To be able to display on one’s Dashboard one or more photos hosted at home, with sizes adjustable in height and width. Maybe a photo widget like those used to customize a smartphone screen. One could display either a real photo or use image manipulation and editing software like GIMP to create custom backgrounds to personalize one’s Dashboard. Gladys logo on the Dashboard, your own logo, an aluminum-texture banner with the Dashboard title in a customizable size and font. The possibilities are enormous and depend on everyone’s imagination.

Don’t worry, it’ll go up ![]()
I can’t vote at the moment! I actually think the idea is pretty nice though.
Or maybe there’s a motivated developer who’ll get started on it.
Same, I don’t have any votes left ![]()
+1 for me ![]()
Cursor Agent has developed a first draft of a photo widget, which uses a list of URLs provided by the user as its source.
This works, for example, with a local NAS, provided that it exposes a URL for each image.
I think this is an interesting first proof of concept. However, manually entering the URLs quickly becomes tedious, especially if you want to display a library of several hundred photos, for example, vacation photos.
The question is therefore: is this limitation sufficient to not offer this feature for the time being?
Or, despite this constraint, could this first version already be useful to some users here? ![]()
Does this look like what already exists and that I use?
In itself yes except that here you can have a carousel of multiple photos that scroll ![]()
@jcmoriaud @Lokkye @b3n.0 @S7evin @pascal_sapin @jerome @McFlyPartages @Psoy @Einstein8854 You voted for this request, what was your specific need and is my proposal convincing, or too limited?
Hello,
This perfectly matches my needs.
Thanks ![]()
Thanks for your feedback @Lokkye and glad to see you back on the forum! ![]()
I’m still waiting for other feedback, but this is already a very good first development. ![]()
Next, we could also look into integrating with different NAS APIs to automatically display photos from an album.
Yes, a very good solution.
With direct access to a folder or share.
Plus (because I’m greedy) an action on click would be a bonus.
Hello, @pierre-gilles
It’s a widget, you put it on the desktop, that’s fine with me. But could it also serve as a Gladys screensaver with a slideshow?
Are you using Gladys on a tablet?
If so, why not use the tablet’s native screensaver? If it’s an Android tablet, you can display photos on it.
why not use the tablet's native screensaver
Yes of course, it was just a suggestion for the PC because Gladys is always open on my screen
, but your proposal will already allow us to beautify the desktop.
Thanks
I don’t really understand the use case, because your PC will lock itself after a while anyway, right?
Immich would be perfect
![]()
I think we can publish this first version of the widget, and then why not develop an Immich integration!
I have a PC with 3 screens, so one with Gladys displayed permanently, and this allowed me to hide just one screen, the one with Gladys. But it’s just a whim
It seems to meet the request, at least as far as I understood it.
And for the « link image by image » method’s grandeur, how about adding a "folder contents
" option? But I suppose you must have already thought of that…
