Adding Smart Implant Fibaro Z-Wave?

Hello,

I would like to add the Fibaro Smart Implant https://www.fibaro.com/fr/products/smart-implant/

But before buying it, I would like to know if it is correctly compatible with Gladys or if some features will not be available?

For information, these will be temperature probes that will be connected.

Thank you

Hello @Checconio and welcome to the forum!

I’ve never heard of anyone using this device, so I have no idea if it works with Gladys (if someone uses it, please speak up :p)

That said, I won’t hide the fact that Z-Wave integration isn’t the most popular integration for Gladys. People use a lot of Zigbee (with Zigbee2mqtt), or Sonoff (with Tasmota integration).

As for Z-Wave, @Romuald_Pochet is trying to migrate the integration from Open-Zwave to ZWaveJS, but in the meantime, the current Z-Wave integration is not very used and poorly maintained.

Why do you want Z-Wave? Are you already using Z-Wave hardware? Why not switch to Zigbee or Sonoff gear, often cheaper and just as good (I would even say better) ?

Ah, and also! Why not go with just a temperature sensor like the Xiaomi Aqara for example? For 8-10€ you have a Zigbee temperature/humidity sensor of excellent quality (they are tiny and super sleek)

Thank you @pierre-gilles for this information

Indeed, I had looked at Zigbee which is cheaper, but I already have Z-wave in place, which is why I preferred to stay with it.

For the temperature probe, I need an external (waterproof) probe for an aquarium, which was more complicated to find.

There is one in Zigbee but it only works with batteries and I would have preferred wired power (which I found under Z-wave).

You just told me about Sonoff and after a quick look, I was able to find what I was looking for

I will therefore go with Sonoff with Ewelink integration.

Thanks to you

Great!

Regarding Sonoff, I recommend switching to Tasmota. This will allow you to control the device locally, whereas Ewelink is cloud-based and apparently the Ewelink API is not very stable ^^

Perfect, I’ll check it out
