Hello,
I recently worked on integrating TV features with Google Home:
turn the TV on/off
next/previous channel
last channel
relative volume (increase/decrease volume)
mute/unmute
media controls: play / stop / pause / next / previous
If any of you are up for testing, here is the image: atrovato/gladys:google-home.
You need to have Gladys Plus to be able to test, but there is no impact on the database (although I always recommend making a backup before testing an image).
I tested with a TV via Broadlink, it seems to work correctly.
Some technical information:
there is an optimization of the processing of commands received from Google; Gladys events are emitted only if the feature is detected
Lol no, it’s the integration of a Gladys TV device (I use an infrared remote with my Broadlink and the Gladys service) with the Google Home app, and therefore voice control of the TV!
@AlexTrovato Did you test the integration in a live environment?
Indeed, I don’t think you’ll have testers for this integration, because I don’t recommend anyone run Gladys Plus on a test instance (doing so breaks production).
I have a Gladys Plus « test » account. However, I’m not very familiar with this feature — what is needed to test it? I have a Samsung TV, Broadlink if needed, and a Google speaker. If I can help you test and you can guide me through it, I’m ready!! ^^
@pierre-gilles I’m pretty confident, but improving error handling may have general impacts on the Google integration.
@Terdious to test, after installing the test image on your test environment, you need to create a TV-type device with Broadlink, register the features you want to manage. The ones supported are: power, channels, volumes, media (play/pause/stop/next/previous).
You will then see a TV device in your Google Home, with the compatible features you registered in Gladys.
From Google Home, you should then be able to control your TV (by voice and touch).
