Hello, I can't install Gladys assistant

Hello, I’m Habbys. I just signed up because I’d like to get into home automation, but I’m having trouble installing Gladys and I’m looking for help. I’m 77 years old but still young enough to manage my home; I have smart bulbs, Somfy roller shutters, an electric gate, photovoltaic panels, thermal panels that I built myself which allow me to heat my house from March 1 to May 31 and from September 15 to October 31, and the rest of the time I heat my house with a heat pump from November 1 to February 28. I want to control all of this with Gladys. I want to install Gladys on Ubuntu on an old SAMSUNG laptop that I equipped with a 500 GB SSD. I just installed Ubuntu and installed Docker following the « installation with Docker » procedure — I got as far as launching a Gladys Assistant container and I’m stuck accessing Gladys Assistant in the browser. My local network is currently on my desktop PC which is running Windows 11. So, can someone help me?

Hello Habbys and welcome!

So I’m not much of a technician, but we’ll probably manage.
To find the GLadys interface in a browser, you need to type the local IP address of your laptop where it’s installed. It should look like 192.168.1.XXX or something like that.

What you can do: on your laptop running Ubuntu, open a terminal. Once it’s open type the command ifconfig and you should see that IP address somewhere. If you don’t see it, don’t hesitate to copy/paste the contents of what the terminal shows here so we can guide you

Ok, thanks for your quick reply — I found my IP, but when I enter it in Firefox I get the following response: « Connection failed ». I need to allow Firefox to access Windows, but how?

I don’t understand what you mean.
You can try from your phone by connecting to your Wi-Fi.

Hi Tise-vins, on my laptop I’ve installed Ubuntu and Gladys in Docker. When I open Firefox and use the IP assigned to Gladys, I can’t access Gladys on the web.

Did you follow the tutorial I made?

You don’t have to connect to Gladys only from your PC, you can do it from your phone, a tablet, … if you are on the same network.

What’s the result of @guim31’s command?

So @Habbys, did you manage to get through it?

Hello @guim31 yes I formatted my SSD, reinstalled everything and it works. I just started building my dashboard. I’ll be able to start connecting my HUE bulbs, my SONOFFs, my LINKY meter, my LAN, etc… but it’s strange there isn’t a SOMFY app. Thanks for following me and for taking an interest in what I’m doing, see you soon I hope.

Awesome  great job!

I know that @froch uses I

For IFTTT, maybe consider, as with Node-RED, installing an open-source self-hosted IFTTT solution (Huginn looks good); that would pair nicely with Gladys!
