Cancel button when editing a dashboard

Currently, when I edit a dashboard, I can only finish or delete it.
Wouldn’t it be handy to have a Cancel button?

PS: I’ve been making my list of remarks since this morning… I feel like a real pain! I LOVE v5!!!

Hi @guim31,

Not annoying at all, quite the opposite — keep going! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Actually, the Cancel button does exist in 5.0.0, but the editor’s action bar has become « adaptive » with the new design: it only shows what makes sense at that moment.

  • As long as you haven’t changed anything, there’s nothing to cancel: you only see Delete and Finish. And Finish does exactly what you’re looking for — it takes you out of the editor without saving anything.
  • As soon as you touch something (move a widget, add one, change a setting), the bar transforms and displays CancelDeleteSave. There, Cancel discards your current changes and brings you back to the dashboard as it was.

In other words: nothing is ever automatically saved in the editor. As long as you haven’t clicked on Save, you can exit via Finish or Cancel (depending on what the bar displays), your dashboard remains intact.

Your screenshot corresponds to the first case: you had just opened the editor, so there was nothing to cancel.

That said, your feedback is noted: if the Finish button isn’t immediately read as « I exit without breaking anything », it’s that the label needs reflection. We’ll see if there are other feedbacks in this sense.

Thanks for reporting it, and glad that v5 pleases you! :slightly_smiling_face:
