Compatible camera

Hello everyone
Which camera model compatible with Gladys (without configuration headaches) do you use? For a tight budget . Thanks in advance for sharing

I use this one (via RTSP stream) TP Link C200
But any USB camera will do (choose a well-known brand like Logitech, for example) https://www.leboncoin.fr/informatique/2289015038.htm
I’ll let others add to that

I’m using that one but I’m not sure I can retrieve the stream

Tu WiFi Indoor Surveillance Camera 1080P IP Camera With Recording Home Camera for Baby/Pet Motion Tracking, Sound Detection, Two-Way Audio YI Camera Surveillance Wifi Intérieur 1080P Caméra IP Avec Enregistrement Camera Maison pour Bébé/Animal de Compagnie Suivi de Mouvement, Détection Sonore, Audio Bidirectionnel : Amazon.fr: High-Tech

I’m also using 2 TP-Link C200s and a Netatmo camera, they are all three integrated into Gladys.
I’m having disconnections with the TP-Link, but I don’t think it’s coming from Gladys.
Do you have disconnection problems @cicoub13 and @VonOx ?

Not perfect on my end.

Personally I have Reolink cameras that work very well.
I had also (but not anymore) flashed my Xiaomi Yi Home with a custom firmware and it was compatible with Gladys via the rstp link :ok_hand:

No, but I noticed that it doesn’t pick up the Wi-Fi very well if I put it far from the router (understandable, but I feel like it has poorer reception than other devices).

Make sure that RTSP is available. I have a D-Link model that only works via the cloud; no stream is directly accessible on the device.

Thanks for the info, I just flashed the firmware of one of my cameras with the hack and indeed it’s now properly recognized in Gladys :+1:. I have a question about integrating the camera into Gladys: I see you can put the camera’s image, refreshed at regular intervals, on the dashboard, but is it possible to view the live stream continuously in a window?

@Bruno94 not for now, but there is a feature request:

If many of you request it, I would prioritize that for development

Thanks Pierre-Gilles for your quick reply, I’ve been new to Gladys for a few days and I’m trying to tame the beast

Are you talking about motion detected via a motion sensor or detected via the camera?

For sending camera images in scenes, this is an existing request that has quite a few votes:

You can vote to support it — given the number of votes, it could come soon

I was indeed talking about detection via the camera

This is not possible at the moment. To do « complex Â» actions with cameras, I recommend ZoneMinder ( https://zoneminder.com/ ), it’s another open-source software specialized in cameras.

I think it can be installed alongside Gladys, and it’s complementary.

Thank you — I’ll take a look. I think that integrating the camera into Gladys doesn’t currently hold much interest for me, because to my mind the primary purpose of a camera would be to view the live stream to react as quickly as possible to any potential intrusion and to be notified at the same time via a scene. But I will follow the development of this integration with interest.

I just got a Tapo C200 camera, since you all seem pleased with it. Since I had a bit of trouble finding the RTSP stream URL, I’m jotting down some info here in case others need it

I first set up the camera in the Tapo app on my smartphone. Then in that app I created a « camera account Â» by choosing a USERNAME and a PASSWORD. These two steps are described on Comment puis-je lire un flux RTSP en direct de ma camĂ©ra Tapo | TP-Link France

Then, to find the RTSP stream and test access, I installed the iSpy app on my computer (but you can probably skip this step). In that software, I used the ONVIF service (at the URL http://IP_CAMERA:2020/onvif/service), which told me that the rtsp stream was rtsp://IP_CAMERA:554/stream1 (HD) or rtsp://IP_CAMERA:554/stream2 (SD)

Finally, in Gladys, on the camera integration page (http://IP_GLADYS/dashboard/integration/device/rtsp-camera), I added the camera by entering the following URL in the Camera RTSP/HTTP stream field:
rtsp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@IP_CAMERA:554/stream1

Hi @StephaneB, I have 2 Tapo C200s but I find they frequently disconnect from my Wi‑Fi network.
Have you experienced any disconnections?

@Tlse-vins actually I don’t watch my cameras continuously and I also don’t make recordings, so I haven’t noticed any disconnection over time. And every time I connect for occasional use with the Tapo app or when I view my Gladys dashboard containing the camera, the camera is reachable and the image appears. So, a priori, no problem

The disconnections you experience — how do they manifest?

@pierre-gilles Has it ever been considered to enrich camera management with the â€č control â€ș aspects: enable/disable the camera, rotate it,
?

I can imagine a few scenes that would be nice
For example, when I’m away for a few days, have the camera send me each evening the photos from the 3 positions that allow me to see the kitchen, the living room, and the entrance. Which implies being able to move the camera within the scene .

A priori it’s technically possible, because there is a Home Assistant plugin that does it: GitHub - JurajNyiri/HomeAssistant-Tapo-Control: Control for Tapo cameras as a Home Assistant component
But I have no idea how technically difficult it would be to integrate into Gladys . Would it make sense for me to file a feature request?

The camera goes offline.
I thought it was a Wi‑Fi connection problem because I have two of them outside.
I put one inside but it’s the same, same behavior.

I’m forced to go into the app to restart it or, even worse, I have to unplug it and plug it back in.
