Hello community,
Given the small price difference between a Raspberry Pi 4 and a Raspberry Pi 5, I bought the RP5 but I can’t install Gladys. Is this a mistake on my part or is Gladys not compatible with the RP5?

Hello community,

When I try to boot from the SSD, I get the message « The installed operating system (OS) does not indicate support for Raspberry Pi 5 ».
So I have my answer, but is there any way to fix that? ![]()
Apparently, the RPI 5 is compatible with Debian starting from Bookworm (version 12). The Gladys image is based on Bullseye (v11).
We can work on a new version of the image.
If you want to move forward without waiting, you can install Raspberry Pi OS Lite (64-bit version) and add Gladys with Docker.
I’ll try that this evening. Thank you very much.
For the development of the new version of the image, I think it will be necessary or at least useful in the more or less near future.

Good evening,
I tried to install Gladys on the RP5 using the manual « Docker » method and it’s a half success. In fact, it’s tedious to do it by installing Raspberry Pi OS Lite (64-bit version) as the bootloader because you have to copy the instructions one by one to load Gladys.
So here is the method (for complete beginners like me) that I used:
1 - with « Raspberry Pi Imager », flash « Raspberry Pi OS (64-bit) » to the SD card or to the SSD after entering the username and password.
2 - Boot from the SD or SSD
3 - Start the browser on the Raspberry Pi and open the page « Installation avec Docker | Gladys Assistant ».
4 - Open the console (this is the window where you find the command prompt)
5 - Run the procedure described in the Docker installation
This method has the advantage of not having to write the instructions but just to copy/paste them, which avoids errors for non-Linux users.
…unfortunately, I couldn’t install my zigbee2MQTT dongle and I have the same problem as when I tried with my RP3B.
Thanks Cicoub for your help
and I hope that « my » procedure will help some people (without any pretension)
Great that you were able to make progress. I’m more of an SSH connection from another PC than screen + keyboard.
So I didn’t think of your solution but thanks, it will surely help a lot of people.
