Connection a gladys

hello

I no longer have access to Gladys, installed on a laptop whose charger broke and since then I no longer have access

On Ubuntu it asks for login and password

I don’t remember them anymore

Is there a solution?

Thank you in advance

Hello @tonio,

The login and password requested at startup are those of Ubuntu, not those of Gladys. There are two options.

1. Check if Gladys is already running
Gladys runs in Docker and usually restarts automatically with the PC, even if no one logs into Ubuntu. From another device on the same network (phone, another PC), open http://PC-IP in a browser. You will find the IP address on your internet box page. If Gladys appears, the Ubuntu password is not even necessary.

2. Reset the Ubuntu password

  1. Restart the PC while holding down Shift (or by pressing Esc several times) to display the GRUB menu.
  2. Choose Advanced options for Ubuntu, then the line that ends with (recovery mode).
  3. Choose root – Drop to root shell prompt.
  4. Enter these commands:
mount -o remount,rw /
ls /home
passwd your_username
reboot

The command ls /home displays your username. Replace your_username in the passwd command with it, then enter the new password twice.

You will then be able to log in normally. Keep us posted!
