Hi everyone!
I hope you’re doing well.
New Gladys release today, with a few small fixes to make life easier ![]()
Before talking about it, if you’re new to Gladys and have questions, I now offer free 15-minute calls: https://cal.com/gladysassistant/15min
I’ll guide you through the steps to get started easily with home automation, and I’ll help you with any blocking issues you might have!
Shutter control in scenes
You can now control your shutters in scenes without having to know the values to enter; you just need to select « open », « pause » or « close »:
Gladys Plus backup time change
Gladys Plus backups will now be performed between 2:00 and 4:00 (instead of 0:00–2:00)
I’m an early sleeper myself, but many of you are night owls and therefore awake at midnight!
On a mini-PC with an SSD, the backup is imperceptible because it’s almost instantaneous even on a large database, but on Raspberry Pi units with a slower disk, the database is locked during the backup and that can bother you if you’re awake.
Sonos: Increased timeout for voice announcements
@Jluc has issues with voice announcements on his Sonos speakers, and I suspect it’s a timeout problem if his network is too slow.
I increased the timeout from 10s to 20s, and I added more logs so we can follow these changes.
The full CHANGELOG is available here .
How to update?
If you installed Gladys with the official Raspberry Pi OS image, your instances will update automatically in the coming hours. This can take up to 24 hours, don’t panic.
If you installed Gladys with Docker, make sure you’re using Watchtower ( See the documentation )
