This is a fairly minor update, but it brings some interesting fixes!
The next version of Gladys will surely be more robust, as I have been working on a very big feature for several months: the display of curves on the dashboard (Affichage des courbes de capteurs sur le dashboard)
New Features
No more horizontal scroll bars on Windows on the dashboard!
When a password reset is requested, if the entered email is incorrect, display the list of users in the logs to help the user.
How to update?
If you installed Gladys with the official Raspberry Pi OS image, your instances will update automatically in the coming hours. This may take up to 24 hours, no need to worry.
If you installed Gladys with Docker, make sure you are using Watchtower (See the documentation)
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this release!
Thanks @pierre-gilles.
Yes, I know that Gladys stops during the update and restarts, but not this time.
I unplugged/replugged it just before sending the message, around 8:30 PM.
I’m not an expert, but I find it dangerous to suddenly unplug and replug the Pi, don’t you? Wouldn’t the board take a hit every time you do that? Personally, I run a sudo reboot which does the job very well, or a shutdown and then I unplug and replug when the Pi is off.
Thanks Jean for your participation, but how do you do a sudo reboot when the pi is not accessible via SSH?
If you have an answer, I’m interested
It’s the first time I unplugged because I had no other solution.
It’s certain that this complicates things, it would have been great to specify this in your previous message
So I would try to reconnect it since it doesn’t boot, remove the SD card, put it back in, and reconnect it, and normally after 2,3 seconds you should see the green LED of the Pi go crazy
In fact, in the « Forced to unplug and replug. » it’s what I meant…
It rebooted normally afterwards. It has been working correctly since.
Thanks again for your help @Jean34
Hello, a small remark: SD cards have a limited write lifespan and are more fragile. To limit these issues, it is recommended to use a USB key or a USB-connected hard drive. There is a procedure to make the Raspberry Pi bootable on USB.
From experience, I can tell you that a USB drive is almost as reliable as an SD card, so not great… Originally, it wasn’t created for the purpose of reading and writing 24/7, it was mainly for storage.
The button returns text and not a number and therefore cannot be used in scenes
Currently I have bypassed the problem with node-red (thanks for the tutorial!) and the mqtt integration.
In any case, thanks a lot for the work done Gladys 4 is really top!
Hello and thank you all,
There is only Gladys on the SD card.
For the SSD, I have one that I no longer use but I don’t have much time right now to make the switch. It’s a 256GB Samsung.
For 20€, a 120GB one, I’m going to order one. I’ll make the switch during the holidays.
I’ve been telling myself for a long time that I need to do it.
