Gladys Assistant 4.58: Matter, but that's not all! 😄

Hi,
I wanted to test Matter from a Tasmota on 13.3 but it’s impossible to pair the sensor!
I get the following message:
image

The sensor is indeed on the same network and works perfectly via MQTT with Gladys.

Did I miss a step?

Hi @Fabic,

Normally below this error message you have another error message which is Matter’s response — do you have anything?

Otherwise, as indicated in the message, how did you start Gladys?

Hi @pierre-gilles,
The message says « Operation timed out Â».
The last time I started Gladys (at least a year ago, I think) I ran the command from the docs Installation avec Docker | Gladys Assistant
Since then, updates have been automatic and I’ve never had a crash!
I don’t see anything in the Matter docs that requires starting Gladys with a special command.

Here’s an article on Maison et domotique!

https://www.maison-et-domotique.com/161730-gladys-assistant-maj-4-58-matter/

Ok, so Gladys can’t talk to your Matter device.

Normally, if you started Gladys with the official command (without modifying it), it should work. The two devices really need to be on the same network, and reachable via an IPv6 interface.

If you want to check that you actually started Gladys with « network=host Â», you can do:

sudo docker inspect --format='{{.HostConfig.NetworkMode}}' gladys

And you should see host in the console.

Have you tried adding this Matter device to another Matter controller to see if it works on that side? (on the Home app on iOS or Google Home, for example?) That will help isolate whether it’s an issue with Gladys, or with your Tasmota device.

Quick question:
Wouldn’t it be useful to offer a 1-click installation of MatterBridge?

That’s the idea but the first Matter release in Gladys was meant to provide a very functional Matter integration.
Matterbridge is not Matter but helped us fine-tune the details, it was not a priority in this development.
One of the next steps would indeed be to have a 1-click for Matterbridge like

Gladys Assistant 4.58.1 is available and fixes all the feedback you gave me :slightly_smiling_face:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Gladys Assistant 4.58.1 : Corrections de bugs et améliorations

@bjm The bug with the aggregation function not being used for the total number at the top of the charts is fixed :white_check_mark:

@bjm @mutmut The 404 bug on integrations that weren’t refreshed properly in the list is also fixed! :flexed_biceps:

@mutmut absolutely :slightly_smiling_face:

Why not offer a one-click Matterbridge in the future!

That said, I like to have a bit of perspective and experience with a configuration before releasing this kind of turnkey tool.

For now, it’s already great to have the first feedback following the initial launch.

@mutmut @Terdious I would appreciate your help, I’d like to publish 2 articles in the documentation: one to integrate Shelly devices, and the other to integrate Somfy Tahoma devices (with Matterbridge, of course)

Could you help me by writing a short tutorial + screenshots? I’ll take care of all proofreading + formatting + translation into English (or rather, ChatGPT will :D)

Thanks in advance :folded_hands:

I’d be happy to!

Which format do you prefer: plain text, Discourse, PDF, Notion, the blog directly, or something else?
Are we also going to talk about the Matterbridge installation in Docker?

Hello Pierre-Gilles,
The command you gave me returns « host Â».
I don’t have any other Matter controllers besides Gladys. That said, it was only for testing. I’ll switch back to MQTT and follow the forum on the subject.
See you soon.

Ok, too bad — it would have been nice to check that it works

If it’s a timeout, it may be that your device (or your network) is too « slow Â» to respond. I set a timeout of 90 seconds in Gladys; that may be insufficient in your case

Hello @pierre-gilles, I have a small bug that, it seems, appeared since the last update: the zigbee2mqtt service no longer starts automatically after a reboot of my machine, Ubuntu 24.04.2. The Docker container is otherwise running; I have to start the service from the integration page.

Nothing has changed on that side, does it happen every time?

Maybe you encountered an error when starting the integration?

Yes, I have the same anomaly at every startup, I do think a device is to blame, for now I haven’t identified it in the logs yet, I’m handling it like this while waiting to carry out a more in-depth search.

I’m trying to finish this on Sunday if that works for you! Otherwise, tonight.

I’m also aiming for Sunday (because I haven’t started

@Terdious I’ll take care of the Matterbridge installation in Docker if that works for you.
