External integration - Holidays and working days

Hi everyone!

Do you know the alarm going off at 6:45 a.m. on a Whit Monday? Here’s Holidays & Workdays: public holidays for nearly 200 countries, working days, and as a bonus, French school holidays by zone. Two Home Assistant integrations (Workday and Holiday) combined into one, without any hardware.

What it does

• A device called « France Calendar » (or your country’s calendar), usable in scene conditions:
  • public holiday today / tomorrow;
  • working day today / tomorrow;
  • school holidays today / tomorrow (zones A, B, C, Corsica, and overseas);
  • number of days until the next public holiday, and its name.
• Subdivisions: Alsace-Moselle (Good Friday and St. Stephen’s Day), German states, Swiss cantons, Belgian and Canadian provinces…
• Your working days, your bridge days, and the public holidays you work anyway (hello solidarity day).
• A « Next Public Holidays » widget.
• Four triggers at your chosen time: public holiday, eve of a public holiday (with the number of consecutive days off), start of school holidays, last day of holidays. And an action « Check a date » (today, tomorrow, or in N days).

The cool part

6:45 a.m., only working days → alarm, blinds, and coffee
Ascension Eve at 6 p.m. → « 4 days off! » and heating in weekend mode
Last day of holidays at 7 p.m. → « Back to school tomorrow, remember the alarm »

Installation

Gladys 5.1 minimum.

1. In the configuration: your country, the subdivision if needed, your working days, and your school holiday zone.
2. Discovery tab: add the calendar.

Public holidays are calculated locally, offline. Only school holidays come from the open data of the Ministry of Education, read once a day and kept in memory.

Honest small reservations: one country per installation, and an exceptional public holiday decided at the last minute will only arrive with an update (in the meantime, add it to your non-working days). It hasn’t run on a real Gladys yet: your feedback is precious.
