Hi everyone! ![]()
We continue the « light pack » by @pierre-gilles: after WLED, WiZ, and Govee, here comes LIFX, bulbs, strips, and panels, controlled locally by the official LIFX protocol. No cloud, no account.
What it does
- Automatic discovery of lamps on your network (or by IP address, for those on another network). They keep the name you gave them in the LIFX app.
- Each lamp becomes a Gladys light with only what the model can do: on/off, brightness, color, white (within the model’s kelvin range), infrared for Nightvision, and the list of effects (Move on strips, Morph and Flame on panels).
- Two scene actions:
- « Make a LIFX lamp blink / breathe » in a color, then return exactly to the previous state (even if it was off): perfect for an alert;
- « Start a LIFX effect »: Move with a palette, Morph, Flame, or stop.
- Soft transitions as an option.
- In French, English, German, and Spanish.
No widget: the Gladys light tiles already do everything, I didn’t want to add any more.
The cool thing
Washing machine finished → the living room lamp « breathes » in blue three times, then returns to normal
Alarm triggered → all LIFX bulbs blink in red
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum.
It will be available in the store at the next indexer update. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-lifx: LIFX bulbs and strips over the LAN protocol for Gladys Assistant: colors, whites, effects, local · GitHub
- Start the search: the lamps on Gladys’ network are found automatically. Otherwise, enter their IP addresses.
- Discovery tab: add your lamps.
Honest small reservations
- Developed without the hardware: tests run against fake lamps that respond to real LIFX protocol packets (including official documentation examples), but not against a real bulb. Your feedback is welcome.
- The zone-by-zone detail of strips and panels is not managed: the color is applied to the entire lamp (the effects, however, use the zones).
Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with LIFX.
