Hi everyone! ![]()
News from the North American series
: Govee, the LED bulbs and strips found in every American home (and increasingly in ours
).
And good news: everything works locally, via Govee’s official LAN API. No account, no cloud.
What it does
Bulbs, strips, lamps, and garlands controlled locally: on/off, brightness, color, and white.
A white slider in kelvins, set to the range of each model (a table of 272 models).
An optional Govee API key that adds outlets, thermometers, hygrometers, and humidifiers, with a fallback to the cloud indicated by an orange badge.
A « Govee Presets » widget (whites, colors, scenes) and a scene action « Launch a Govee Scene. »
Two buttons in the configuration: Search and Diagnose, and Identify a Device (it flashes, handy when you have 12 identical bulbs
).
The cool part
Sunset → the strips switch to warm white at 40%
Movie mode → everything turns off except the strip behind the TV, in blue
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum.
- In the Govee app, on each lamp: gear icon → enable LAN Control.
- In Gladys: Integrations → Govee → Install, then enter the IP addresses of your lamps, or a range of addresses.
- Discovery tab to add your lamps.
- Optionally, paste your Govee API key for devices without LAN control.
Honest caveats: no automatic discovery (you need to provide the IPs or a range), no color per segment or music mode yet, and a change made from the Govee app only appears at the next refresh (30 s).
Developed without the hardware: I don’t have any Govee devices. If you test, give me the model number of your lamps in your feedback, it will help a lot.
Like the previous ones, it is developed with Claude Code
. Independent project, not affiliated with Govee.
