Hi everyone! ![]()
SwitchBot is a bit like the Swiss Army knife of « no-work » home automation: the little robot that presses a button, the curtain motor, the lock you stick on your door, the thermometers… And there was nothing for them in Gladys. So here is SwitchBot, via the official SwitchBot API.
What it does
- Your SwitchBot devices arrive in Gladys with what they can do:
- Bot, plugs (Plug, Plug Mini), Relay Switch: on/off, power and energy when the model measures them;
- curtains and blinds (Curtain, Curtain 3, Roller Shade, Blind Tilt): open, close, position;
- locks: state and door open or closed. Locking and unlocking from Gladys remains disabled until you explicitly allow it in the configuration;
- thermometers and hubs (Meter, Meter Plus/Pro, Outdoor Meter, Hub 2/3): temperature, humidity, battery, CO2 on the Meter Pro CO2;
- sensors for opening, motion, and water leakage;
- lights (Color Bulb, Strip Light, Ceiling Light…), humidifier, purifier, fans, vacuum cleaners (basic state);
- optionally, the infrared remotes of the Hub.
- Four scene triggers: door open / closed / left open, motion detected, water leak, low battery.
- Two scene actions: press a Bot, send an infrared command.
- A « SwitchBot » widget with your thermometers and main states.
- Optionally, with Gladys Plus: real-time via webhook, instead of waiting for the next reading.
- In French, English, German, and Spanish.
The cool thing
Water leak under the sink → immediate notification and cutting off the dishwasher plug
Front door left open for 5 minutes → small reminder on the phone
7 a.m. on weekdays → the Bot presses the coffee machine button
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum, and a SwitchBot Hub for Bluetooth devices (it connects them to the cloud).
It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-switchbot: SwitchBot devices (Bot, Curtain, Lock, Plug, Meter, Hub…) for Gladys Assistant, through the SwitchBot cloud API · GitHub
- In the SwitchBot app: Profile → Preferences → About, tap 10 times on « App Version », then open Developer Options: you will find the token and the secret key there.
- Paste them into the integration configuration, then Test the connection.
- Discovery tab: add your devices.
Honest small reservations
- Developed without SwitchBot hardware or account: everything was tested against a fake SwitchBot cloud built from the official documentation. Your feedback is welcome!
- SwitchBot limits the API to 10,000 calls per day. The integration uses only about half of that, adapting the pace to the number of devices, and pauses before the limit. Sensors are therefore not instantaneous without the webhook option.
- The SwitchBot webhook is unique per account: if another software already uses it, activating it here replaces it.
Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with SwitchBot.
