External integration - Homematic IP

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

Homematic IP is the number one home automation system in Germany (the first country for Home Assistant), also very popular in Belgium and Switzerland. Thermostat heads, window contacts, shutters, alarms… Here is the integration for Gladys, via the cloud access point (HmIP-HAP).

What it does

  • All devices from the access point, recognized by their function rather than by their model:
    • thermostats, temperatures, humidity, CO2, brightness, wind and rain;
    • opening contacts (tilted window counted as open), motion, presence, smoke, water leak;
    • outlets and switches (with power and energy), dimmers, shutters, blinds and sunshades;
    • buttons and remote controls (short press, long press), low battery, tampering.
  • A heating room = one device: setpoint to half a degree, mode (auto, manual, eco), boost, open window, heating requirement.
  • The house: eco mode (absence), alarm mode, alarm.
  • A trigger « alarm triggered Â», with the sensor and the cause.
  • Scene actions: absence, vacation, end of absence, alarm mode.
  • A widget « Homematic IP Heating Â»: all rooms, outdoor temperature and an eco button.
  • Changes arrive in real-time.
  • In French, English, German and Spanish.

The alarm is read-only by default. You can allow arming only, or arming and disarming, in the configuration.

The cool thing

Everyone left → absence mode on all heating
Open window in the bedroom → notification if it remains open for 15 minutes
Long press on the entrance button → turn everything off

Installation

:warning: Gladys 5.1 minimum.

It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-homematicip: Homematic IP (cloud access point) for Gladys Assistant: thermostats, heating, shutters, sensors, switches · GitHub

  1. In the configuration: the SGTIN of the access point (printed underneath), and the PIN code if you have set one.
  2. Start pairing, press the blue button of the access point, then I pressed the button.
  3. Discovery tab: add your devices.

Honest small reservations

  • Developed without the hardware: everything was tested on a registered home of 46 devices (reusing Home Assistant tests). I checked that the real Homematic cloud responds and that pairing goes up to the button step, but nothing has run on a real access point.
  • Only the cloud access point (HmIP-HAP) is managed, not yet the new local control unit HCU.

@ruegerth, if you have Homematic at home (or someone around you), I would be happy to have a test :wink:

Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with eQ-3.
