🚀 Matter & Gladys Assistant: Here we go!

Is the only way to fetch the values in the cluster to do it like that? Don’t you see any objects where the data is already populated in the bridgedCluster?

No, I searched for a long time last week and the only way I found is to go through the attributes
 ^^

Ok, well I think I’ll need something to test in real life  I’ll see if I can find a simple device to test.

Since the concept of a bridge is a fairly common case in the Matter ecosystem.

That won’t be today!

If needed, I can give you control one of these days.

And what about matterbridge-zigbee2mqtt? Since you mainly have Zigbee at home?

That could be a lead  Otherwise « Matter-bridge webhook Â», what is that? That could be nice?

I’m checking!
Zigbee took me 30 seconds ^^

But it’s a mess, after restarting
 can’t decommission anymore ^^

Okay that’s fine, just need to disable the plugins.

With zigbee2mqtt => recommissioning and bam:

And don’t worry about it, Shelly probably isn’t finished yet because state reporting works perfectly on zigbee2mqtt :

EDIT: I’m checking if the name is in the same place but from what I can see on the interface, it’s the same :

Ok, I’ll run more tests on my side by setting up a matterbridge

Good to hear the status feedback is working!

Ok, I have a test MatterBridge running successfully on Mac.

Started with:

docker run --name matterbridge \
  -v /Users/pierre-gillesleymarie/sandbox/matterbridge/docker_data/Matterbridge:/root/Matterbridge \
  -v /Users/pierre-gillesleymarie/sandbox/matterbridge/docker_data/.matterbridge:/root/.matterbridge \
--network host --restart always -d luligu/matterbridge:latest

I installed 2 example plugins:

Which exposes a bunch of test devices to me:

Which I can see in Gladys with not-great names :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll try to find better names

I’ve just pushed an improvement to device names for Matterbridge and for Eve devices:

For now, I can’t find the Matter device name defined in the « Home Â» app on iPhone — I don’t think it’s exposed

I just pushed support for pairing codes without hyphens:

I think I’m starting to reach an « acceptable Â» level for a first Matter integration

I built a Docker image to offer you a first test version!

gladysassistant/gladys:matter-integration

Looking forward to your feedback!

What works

  • Control and state feedback for binary devices (smart plugs, bulbs)
  • State feedback for light sensors
  • State feedback for motion sensors

What remains to be done

For me, the only thing left to do is to be able to hide the integration logs, which are currently too verbose.

Reading the CHANGELOG of Matter.js, I see that this is a feature coming in the next version of the package:

So I think that as soon as they release that I’ll be able to change the logs

Cool that it’s going well :+1: And since I suppose you did gear comparisons before choosing your bridge camera, do you have any advice to give?

When you say bridge, I imagine you mean the Thread Border Router?

I’m in the Apple ecosystem at home, so the question didn’t really arise, I have an Apple TV 4K Ethernet 128 GB (note: only the Ethernet model is compatible with Thread)

Yes, that’s exactly what I was talking about. Because my initial quick searches gave me the impression that devices with that built in were all quite expensive, so I’ll need to be fairly sure that they work â€č perfectly â€ș.

I bought my Apple TV on LeBonCoin for info

You can find models in very good condition for less! (I see models at €150 on LeBonCoin)

Google Thread Border Routers:

Displays : Nest Hub (2nd generation), Nest Hub Max
Wi-Fi routers : Nest Wifi Pro (Wi-Fi 6E)
Streaming devices : Google TV Streamer (4K)

I see Nest Hub 2nd gen at €50 on leboncoin

Amazon Thread Border Routers:

On Amazon’s side, it seems you need an Amazon Echo 4th generation.

After that, you only need a Thread Border Router for Thread devices; it isn’t necessary for Matter devices that are already on the Wi-Fi network (example: Matterbridge, Wi-Fi devices)

If I understand correctly, we can manage without a TBR if we don’t have any Thread gear?
In my case, I set up a Matterbridge and installed the zigbee2mqtt gateway and tahoma/somfy.

So I’ll be able to test all that and confirm the non-need for a TBR in my case to stay fully local ^^

@pierre-gilles if you need logs for the roller shutters, I can provide them when you’re ready.

Great job!

Exactly!

Not sure there’s much point in connecting Zigbee2mqtt to Matterbridge; you’ll always manage Zigbee devices better directly in the Zigbee2mqtt integration.

I’d appreciate your feedback on Tahoma/Somfy!

@pierre-gilles if you need

yes I agree with z2m, it was mainly to test and see how Matterbridge would react and what it would output in terms of name/address/features/etc.
