Hello everyone,
I discovered Gladys Assistant by chance on YouTube, a video from Aylabs I think.
It was very early yesterday morning.
Since I had a bit of time, I thought I’d give it a try.
I disabled my Home Assistant instance — I had done some tests on Jeedom a long time ago…
So, I installed it on my ZIMA OS server; it’s available directly in the applications ![]()
I only have Zigbee hardware at the moment (motion sensor, bulbs, temperature sensors, smart plugs, contact sensors — for the windows, and On/Off modules in the panel and a ConbeeII), all of this mainly just for heating management.
I was able to add all my gear fairly easily — for some, I had to try several times, as usual.
In the end, I’ve already created my scenes for the heating and everything seems to be working well.
Ah, except for my motion sensor — I think the batteries died once it was paired — but I suspected I needed to change them.
Well, I know I’ll spend hours on it soon, because I like tinkering, maybe making graphs and all, but I loved how easy it was to set up and that it was functional quickly.
Soon, I plan to add additional hardware, but I think there’s already a lot to discover with what’s already available.
Hi and welcome here ![]()
That’s some really positive feedback! I hope you’ll find everything you’re looking for in Gladys, and thanks, by the way — I didn’t know Zima OS, it seems great!
Hello and welcome to Gladys.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions if needed.
Hi @Envrac38 and welcome to Gladys ![]()
Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
Hi,
Thanks for your welcome messages.
Well, I started adding graphs to track the temperature curves, it’s not bad at all.
I already have ideas for the next steps, notably fitting electric roller shutters.
My question was: stay on Zigbee or start migrating to Matter over Thread?
But in that case, what way is there to add Matter to my server?
I change my internet subscription regularly, so I won’t base my setup on an ISP-provided box that supports Matter.
I don’t have any Matter devices to date, and as I read in another thread, I don’t think I’ll go through a device offered by the GAFAM companies.
I haven’t really looked into USB dongles, like the ConBee II but for Matter.
Finally, I changed the batteries in my motion detector, but it won’t transmit any info at all anymore, even when I press the buttons manually on its back — I think I need to replace it. It’s my fault, I never mounted it, and it has fallen an innumerable number of times…
Since you already have Zigbee at home, I would advise you to stay on Zigbee for the roller shutters!
For now, commercially available devices for roller shutters are more mature on Zigbee and will be integrated into Gladys without problems ![]()
As for Thread, as you saw in another thread, we don’t yet have Thread support in Gladys, so if you don’t have a Thread border router at home, for the moment you won’t be able to integrate Thread devices.
