[Introduction] Mika

Hello everyone,

My name is Mika, in the Yvelines area

After several years of following the Gladys project (2018) and now having more time and experience to devote to it, I’m launching myself.
After theory, practice

Electrician in building trades and specialist in electronic security (access control, video surveillance, fire protection).
Installation of various wireless or wired elements of home automation devices of any brand.
Cabling and programming of image analyzers, radio transmission (15 km range)
And of course since I was young I’ve always been a big computer enthusiast.

Why Gladys? …

We live in a crazy world so why not a little extra help or even a big one !!

Over time various life challenges have come my way. From the world of the worker to the business owner and family life.

After many skim-throughs of tutorials, reviews, and following the evolution of the Gladys project, it seems very promising and completely free in its development and protocols with a very good foundation in its community.

And the no-limits effect seems like a good base to me !

After the chit-chat, projects to be launched in about 2 months (need to gather the equipment )

  • touchscreen connected mirror
  • plant watering management via moisture sensor
  • connected water collector + wastewater treatment for plants
  • connected door viewer (peephole) with electric strike
  • management of various lighting
  • home video surveillance + cellar + warehouse + in front of vehicle, image analysis subsystems with facial recognition.
  • connected mailbox
  • opening/closing of curtains
  • connected coffee machine (filter type)
  • food stock management for pre-order basket (video surveillance)
  • autonomous drone with image and thermal analyzer

That’s it for now,

A small note regarding hardware-wise I’m on:
5 Raspberry Pis (slaves)
1 PC i5 8 GB DDR3 4 TB (master)
1 NAS (backup)

I hope you enjoyed this short introduction.
I’m available :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Hi @Tuningesp

I’m interested in the progress of your projects, in particular:

  • the watering system and the moisture sensor,
  • the rainwater collector,
  • the connected mailbox.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
Jean

Welcome here!!

You have some really nice projects there!
One of these days I’m also going to start on the rainwater collector because I installed three 1000-liter tanks, I want to be able to track the variations easily.

Personally I gave up on the connected mailbox because my battery-powered sensors were disturbed by the box’s metal, the signal kept cutting out.

Since that’s apparently your field, I’d really like to know more about facial recognition.
I’m running Unraid with Frigate on it, I also tried installing Deepstack and Double Take for facial recognition but I never managed to actually make practical use of it

Welcome @Tuningesp! Can’t wait to see how your projects evolve…

Welcome !

C’est great de voir tous les projets que tu veux lancer.
What are your choices of IoT technology (Zigbee, Wi‑Fi, other) ?

plant watering management via a moisture sensor
My indoor plants might thank you one day

home video surveillance + cellar + warehouse + in front of a vehicle, image analysis subsystems with facial recognition.
For recognition, several of us use Frigate, but I believe it only detects objects (« person », « animal », etc.), not faces.
