Which speaker?

Hello everyone,

I’m new to home automation and I have a question, maybe a bit unusual…
So here it is, I have a Raspberry 4B behind my internet box, which, among other things, acts as an MQTT broker (Mosquitto), Node-Red, and we control some devices with MQTT Dash (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.routix.mqttdash&hl=en&gl=US) installed on our Android phones: Lamps, TV, Soundbar, Radiators…

I say « we » because actually, I’m doing this for my son who, without going into details, is disabled (amyotrophy) and can’t even press a soft physical button; the idea is that my son can now control all this (and behind the PS4 ) by voice and that’s where Gladys comes into play…

I just installed Gladys v4 on the Pi; I had an error message during the setup of automatic updates via watchtower, I’ll check later and I’m there for now.

However, voice control means via a speaker and that’s where I would need advice; what should I look for? What we call speakerphones? For example, like the Jabra Speak 410 we use at work during teleconferences (but I saw that the latter could cause problems on Debian - seen on Jarvis)?
Of course, the idea is that it works very well for a reasonable budget and, you will have understood, out of the question for me that all our data, even if we have nothing to reproach ourselves, are wandering in the cloud…

Can anyone give me some feedback?
Thanks in advance to everyone

Hello @beng7 and welcome to the project

For now, Gladys 4 doesn’t have an integration that does voice control, apart from the Google Home integration.

Since you do MQTT/Node-RED in other projects, you probably have a way to tinker with Node-RED + Gladys on the other hand…
