Gladys Plus restoration impossible

Hello @pierre-gilles,

After a reinstallation I’m having trouble restoring my backup; I have a message in the Gladys logs:

*** WARNING : deprecated key derivation used.
Using -iter or -pbkdf2 would be better.

Hi @Nagromdark

The error says « bad decrypt », which means your recovery key is not correct.

Are you sure you entered the correct recovery key?

I was afraid you’d tell me that… But yes, I’m sure about the key — I stored it in KeePass. Unless it changed and I forgot to note it down… So is it over, have I lost everything?

The recovery key never changes, unless of course you reinstall Gladys from scratch.

If I were you, I’d try restoring again, making sure that when you copy-paste you don’t accidentally include a space or a weird character at the beginning or the end.

If that doesn’t work, there’s no magic, it’s lost… You’re the only one who has the recovery key, and without it it’s impossible to decrypt the backup.
