Do you have or use smart locks?
I need to replace my door cylinder and the espagnolette (crémone), and
Hello !
I won’t be able to give you an answer
I’m pretty skeptical about that myself, and a bit like @spenceur — what’s the point?
I see lots of uses:
- Not having to get out of bed to check that the door is properly locked.
- Having one more device managed by Gladys and putting it into Airtable.
- Being able to buy a beer for @AlexTrovato after the integration into Gladys.
- Saving my wife from having to look for her keys in her bag (opening the door with her phone or when she’s in the courtyard).
- Not leaving the keys with a keyring that scratches the door that was just repainted.
- Using Domadoo’s partner link to give a reward to Pierre-Gilles.
- Not having to get keys duplicated that you have to give to family, the cleaner, or others and that can be lost.
There must be plenty more good reasons for a beer.
Something else, but that’s another subject.
Ask Domadoo to add « managed by Gladys » on the same level as Jeedom and Home Assistant (HA) for all devices.
Personally, I came across this one that I found interesting: https://nuki.io/fr/
My use case is that currently at our cabin, which we share with my brother and sister, we have a lockbox in front of the door where you just enter a PIN for it to open and thus access the cabin keys. This allows us to pass the keys between us easily.
The lock concept could be even better, because it would allow me, for example, to unlock the door remotely for my grandparents if they wanted to go as well.
It’s a use case that I find practical.
I love the concept, but there’s one thing that bothers me.
If there’s no internet or a Wi-Fi/Network/Gladys/Zigbee issue, you can’t get back into your home.
Unless there are dual systems (key + automatic opening).
Edit: ah I’m talking nonsense. The connected lock is on the inside and the cylinder + key are accessible from the outside.
Edit: ah I’m talking nonsense. The smart lock is on the
Yes, however you need a disengageable cylinder, otherwise it will be blocked.
For that matter, in this kind of case I can definitely see the usefulness ![]()
However, in your case @Tlse-vins, apart from buying beers I don’t see the point ![]()
Of course I’m joking, hehe ![]()
I had looked into it but I admit I didn’t find any benefit in my case
!
Thanks anyway for the answers ^^
