Hi everyone!
For those who recharge their electric car with the surplus from their solar panels, evcc has become a reference: it controls the charging station based on production. Here is evcc for Gladys, locally, to see everything on the dashboard and control it from the scenes.
What it does
- A Site device: solar production, home consumption, grid exchange, home battery, and current price.
- One device per charging station: Off / Solar / Min + Solar / Fast mode (controllable), charging state, vehicle connected, power, session energy, remaining time, charging limit (controllable). The charging station meter feeds Gladys’ energy tracking when it has one.
- One device per vehicle: battery, range, limit, charging plan.
- An evcc widget with the energy flow and mode buttons.
- Triggers: vehicle connected, disconnected, charging started, charging finished (with kWh, duration, and solar share), mode changed. And actions to change the mode or set a limit.
The cool part
At 9 PM, car battery below 30% → Fast mode with a limit of 60%
Charging finished → message with kWh and solar share
Vehicle unplugged → back to Solar mode
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum, evcc 0.200 or newer recommended.
It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address GitHub - guim31/gladys-evcc: evcc solar EV charging (loadpoints, vehicles, modes, limits) in Gladys Assistant · GitHub
- Enter the evcc address (e.g.,
http://192.168.1.20:7070) and, if needed, the admin password. - Test the connection, then add the devices from the Discovery tab.
Honest caveat: it has been tested against the official evcc demo mode (versions 0.317 and 0.210) under Gladys’ sandbox conditions: mode and limit commands, triggers, evcc cut and return. But not with a real charging station or a real car, nor in a real Gladys instance. Only one evcc instance for now, and charging plans are read-only.
