Display text buttons in scenes and dashboard (instead of integers)

Just a heads up: I’ll probably need to edit the title / my post to make it clearer ^^

The idea is to stop handling the information coming from the buttons as integers (which don’t mean anything) like:

  • single click : 1
  • double click : 2
  • long press : 5

I quote @pierre-gilles so at least he can understand what it’s about:

I’ve always been in favor of using a selector (input select) for this kind of button rather than those integers that aren’t very user-friendly!

Your thoughts / ideas! :+1:

Here is the link to that quote:

So if I understand correctly, we’re only talking about scenes?

Scene and dashboard display!

Gladys in general — actually, we shouldn’t have integers on the user-facing side.
I agree with your point on that

I also think about messages sent by Gladys that should display « simple » rather than the numeric value, same for presence, flood, smoke sensors, etc.

We’re starting work on the dashboard and scenes:

EDIT: for the messaging part, I haven’t looked into it yet.

I just merged @AlexTrovato’s PR on this! Thanks for the PR, and thanks to @VonOx for all the testing

It will be included in the next Gladys update.
