Scene Creation Assistant

Here’s what I propose: a (smart?) scene creation assistant.

I’ve been dealing with scenes for a while now and I’m tired of dropdown lists (half of the text doesn’t always display correctly).

Would it be possible that when you choose an action, a screen suggests a list of devices that could perform that action?

The difference with what we have now is that I imagine a series of screens offering the most commonly used actions.

For example, the action ‹ at sunset › would directly suggest activating an outlet, lighting, or others.

When you choose ‹ On device state change ›, all devices appear (possibly by category) on the next screen.

Additionally, this assistant could be run after adding a device in Gladys: ‹ Do you want to create a scene for the added device? ›

The final presentation of the scene would remain as it is now and could then be adjusted.

Couldn’t we fix this behavior instead? ^^

Could you take screenshots of what’s not working? That’s not normal

I’ll send a few screenshots soon, but I really imagined a step-by-step ‹ wizard › with different screens rather than a ‹ dropdown-list-validate › approach.
Just randomly, wouldn’t something like ‹ Blocky › be implementable? (I’m not knowledgeable enough to answer this question).
This guy (http://platenspeler.github.io/) did something rather good with it (see Rules).

aha, I’m fighting for exactly not to have something like that. Blockly is visual programming, it’s clearly designed by programmers for programmers.

In Gladys, we’re trying to make a product that caters more to a general audience, not necessarily into programming. It needs to be simple and visual

I grant you, the scenes aren’t yet at the level we want (it’s coming progressively!), but we’re trying to head towards something really simple
