Improved scene interface design

Hi everyone!

I’m creating a topic to discuss improving the scene interface to make something much simpler and more understandable for everyone

  1. Simplifying triggers

When you add a trigger, it’s easier to understand what each trigger does:

  1. Closed action by default

The scene is more readable, with a small automatic description on each action:

You’ll notice that by default, actions are chained in series and not in parallel, which is easier to understand for a beginner

  1. And parallel actions?

No panic, it’s still possible:

Which turns the block into a « At the same time » block:

Which is displayed like this in the default view:

I really like the proposal!
Isn’t it a bit too busy on mobile view?

On a desktop, there’s no doubt it would be more readable, yes. Good idea.

But I share @mutmut’s concern about mobile: I fear readability would quickly become poor due to the indentation level you add for the At the same time. That’s already happening with the If then else, for example.

On mobile, here’s a complete scene:

The same scene, currently:

I really like it.

I’ve long thought that scene creation is a major point of friction, here’s a great evolution!!

It’s prettier yes but we’re just hiding the technical stuff with a collapse
But it doesn’t change the actual functionality. The most annoying thing I remember was the scroll. After that, how to fix that? No idea.
Otherwise yes it’s more visually appealing

You’ve put my fears to rest :+1:

Top on mobile! And as they say: no pic :joy:
