When you want to add an action block in the middle of a scene, you have to add it at the bottom and then move it up. It would be more convenient to be able to insert a step between two existing steps.
I confirm!![]()
The button next to the arrow looks a bit odd, like it’s lost.
It should be integrated with the arrow, or moved to the side, or even placed above the arrow?
Yes, I think you’re right, it’s not really the best location.
Putting it on the left looks like this:
And placing it above the arrow looks like this :
What if you have 2 blocks of text side by side?
⬇️ Bloc suivant ➕ Insérer un bloc
(sorry for the icons and the diagram, I’m on my phone)
Or simply remove the arrow and keep only the button?
@mutmut I think that wouldn’t be relevant, because the downward-pointing arrow is not an action, it’s just a graphic illustration to show that the blocks follow one another. So in my view the two shouldn’t be represented the same way.
@lmilcent it would look like this:
@pierre-gilles Is the right way to decide to start a vote on the different variants I drew?
I’m voting for that one ![]()
No! Design is rarely about voting (except in the case of a clear dilemma). You have to make a deliberate choice and stick to it ![]()
My opinion on the matter here:
- The arrow should stay; it indicates a direction of flow and is necessary for understanding the scenes
- The button next to the arrow is really odd.
So this design is the one that seems most coherent to me if we keep the arrow.
Note: I removed from this request the ability to delete the first block. It’s handled there: https://community.gladysassistant.com/t/scene-effacer-bloc-1-si-vide
In principle OK. But who makes that choice? It would be fine with me if it were you, you are the right person, but your answer doesn’t go as far as the final choice ;-). It’s moving forward anyway; there are 2 left: keep the arrow, and a button just above the arrow or a button aligned to the far right.
And then @mutmut gave their opinion, and I would rather lean toward the other one
That’s where a vote could help decide.
Also, one solution is to stop the specification there, with two possible alternatives. And it may be during development that one choice will impose itself technically (especially with the ‹ responsive › aspect). Because in terms of specification, whether the button is centered or on the right, honestly, it doesn’t change anything ![]()
The two variants would therefore be:
Ok, don’t worry about it, it’s really a development that will take at most 5 minutes, no need for you to spend any more time here
I’ll decide by doing the dev.
Hello everyone ![]()
I’ve been working on this topic!
Adding the button itself took me 2 minutes, but handling the variable shifting took me… several hours ![]()
Concretely, when inserting a group of actions, for example between group 1 and group 2, you need to shift all variable references in the following groups. This concerns both the definition of the variables and their use, for example in text messages.
Visually, it looks like this:
Desktop:
Mobile:
If you want to test, a Gladys Plus build is available at this address:
https://scene-add-action-group-butto.gladys-plus.pages.dev/
If you manage to break the variable shifting, let me know!
I’ve just merged this development; it will be included in the next Gladys release ![]()
This new feature is available in Gladys Assistant 4.58 :
