Heiman doorbell button

Hello
Being satisfied with my first purchase of this Heiman doorbell button device, I bought another one, original of course,
Pairing goes perfectly, however it is unusable because it is not supported; the « vol » function is OK, no problem, but not the doorbell function — after a press it stays in this « on » position. I see, however, that the model number is not exactly the same « reference »,
so it’s frustrating not to be able to make it work. I think of everyone who buys devices: if you have to check exactly what works depending on the long model number, that doesn’t help, does it? It’s the same brand, same name, Zigbee 3.0. Do you have any idea please, thanks

I think the pairing attempt didn’t go well. You should delete it (using the red trash can at the bottom) and try pairing again.
And if you have the exact model, we can help you better.

thank you for the reply

I’ve already tried deleting it but it’s the same

here is the model that works: DoorBell-EF-3.0 Manufacturer Zigbee
HEIMAN

and the one that doesn’t work
EndDevice
Zigbee model TS0211 Manufacturer Zigbee _TZ1800_akzvkzqq
same package, same characteristics, I have the impression that it’s either an older model or a newer one

thank you for the reply, Pascal

@pascal_sapin
what version of Z2M do you have?
There might be an issue with this product.

I’m on 2.4.0

hello , there is indeed an explanatory page on how to add a device , but I don’t understand anything there unfortunately

Anyone to help me with this button?

Hi @pascal_sapin
just to be sure about the model, is this the one you bought HEIMAN HS2DB-E ?
Because on devices compatible with z2m, there are 2 models: HS2DB and HS2SS-E_V03

Yes I have the HS2DB-E that is not recognized or not compatible, and I also have the
HS2SS-E_V03 which works perfectly

so you need to make a request to z2m because Gladys doesn’t handle requests on the zigbee2mqtt GitHub.
On your

Yes, I’ve already clicked that link but I don’t understand anything — it’s crazy: the same packaging, the same button, and you can’t know in advance if it will work, so my button will be unusable. This kind of thing is really annoying; I feel for those who want to buy modules — how can you know if there are multiple versions of the same model? Thanks anyway for replying. I’m going to buy another one.

There can be several possible causes: a hardware defect in the doorbell you received, an issue during pairing that causes Zigbee2MQTT not to recognize it properly, or a bug in Zigbee2MQTT.

If you think it’s a hardware problem, don’t hesitate to contact the store where you bought the doorbell to request a return — it can happen :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t think it’s a hardware issue; the button’s firmware dates from 2020. I think it’s an old model they foisted on me — I bought it because the price was attractive. The button has two functions, doorbell and an alarm if someone tries to steal it; the alarm works but the button doesn’t.

I saw on the Domadoo page that it is compatible with Jeedom and their Zigbee module.
Can you set up a VM to test this button?

And can you send me the link to the how_to_add_support so I can take a look (I don’t have any unknown modules at the moment)?
If I can help you fill out the request, I’d be happy to.

hello mutmut, thanks for your help, here is the link.

for the VM I think you mean a virtual machine? I don’t have the knowledge for that.

Thanks for the link.
I’ve looked a bit at what needs to be done and do you have any info in the Expose tab in z2m?
And by going to the Developer console tab, could you do a copy/paste of generate_external_definition?
I think we’ll need that info going forward because I believe we’ll need help by opening an issue on the z2m GitHub like this one.
In the discussion it quickly goes into development so I’m lost, sorry :frowning:
I’m familiar with infrastructure, but development is another thing, and so yes, VM stands for Virtual Machine.

Thanks anyway, I looked at it a bit but it’s beyond my expertise, and in any case I hardly have the time for that — I’m more on the hardware/electronics side.
I’ll put it aside and look into buying another compatible one
