Automatic build of the Raspberry Pi OS image

The PR is ready to publish the new image:

https://github.com/GladysAssistant/v4-website/pull/64

PR merged, it’s good on the site the distributed version is your version @VonOx!

A big congratulations for all the work done @VonOx!

PS: for now I won’t communicate directly about this new image, we’ll see calmly how it behaves with new users, and I’ll do a big communication a bit later

All that, it’s up to you for the communication, wait and see if anyone shouts it’s a good method too

I just used the latest image, it’s great to have the latest version directly.

Just a small modification to make on the responsive display.

Indeed! I created an issue:
https://github.com/GladysAssistant/Gladys/issues/1147

Greetings!
After a general SD card corruption, I also used the current image which worked very well. I have two observations I would like to share with you:

  • Would it be possible to add an apt update so that the underlying OS is up to date the first time or is it a bad idea?
  • How do you do when the RPi is on Wi-Fi only? I did not succeed by adding the wpa_supplicant to the root (but I am not good at it).
    Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello,

For the easiest way to set up Wi-Fi, use raspi-config

  • Go to « Network options » > « Wi-Fi ».
  • Enter the SSID and password

Exit and after a few seconds, the Pi connects to the selected wireless network.

Yes yes, that’s what I ended up doing but
I had to take the Pi out of its corner to connect it via cable, just to configure the Wi-Fi

It’s the same as the official image.

We use the unattended-upgrade package which automatically performs security updates in nightly builds  However, it is not recommended to update everything automatically, as it will only create instabilities because apt-get upgrade may potentially perform breaking updates.

unattended-upgrade is sufficient.

Good evening
I wanted to install gladys with rpi-imager, it showed me an image dated 29/03/2022 — I thought it wasn’t up to date, so I downloaded the version from gladysassistant.com and saw that it was the same.

Maybe you should change the file name (date); it gives the impression that there haven’t been any updates since.

The update will take place after you have installed the March version.

But it’s true that it would be interesting to make a more recent version available for download.

Indeed, not a bad idea, actually we don’t particularly need to update the Raspberry Pi OS image since it downloads at boot the latest version of Gladys

No, the installed Gladys version is already the most recent.

Ah, I didn’t think so, ok.

I updated the release date to coincide with the release of Gladys Assistant 4.31, I understand that this might reassure potential new users

I confirm that it’s reassuring! Otherwise I’d be the first to think the project has been abandoned (in other situations).

Can’t you add it to the CI/CD pipeline instead? That way, with each update it’s automatic.

Possible, but it’s not the same repo so you’d have to make an « automatic Â» PR basically.

The file to modify:

I’ll think about it ^^

If someone wants to make a PR :stuck_out_tongue:

Question at the end: does this release date have to be a date? Can’t it be â€č latest â€ș?

Yes! It’s just a date in a JSON
