Now that v4 is well launched, integrations are gradually arriving, and weâre starting to find our rhythm, itâs important to talk about the project as much as possible to make it known
The more people involved in the project, the more contributions and improvements there will be: itâs a virtuous circle!
I posted on the subreddit « /r/homeautomation » a link to the v4 release post (in English):
Indeed, this comment is very interesting, and it confirms to me that we can offer an interesting alternative with Gladys, given the choices we have made:
The « no CLI for the user ». Gladys is really a consumer product and not a product designed « by techs for techs ». Our UI is really the cornerstone of the project, and we have a lot of positive feedback on it!
The overall stability. Iâm talking about stability not necessarily technical, just the fact that the product was designed to run for years, without changing everything every other day. Automatic updates, and the whole philosophy we have taken in the developments make me think that a Gladys user can use the product for several years without touching it much. I think there is a real added value in not being too « extreme/quick » in developments, and in giving great importance to the existing.
This reassures me about all the choices we have made in any case
And have you thought about communicating with the forum members? There is a majority who have not logged in for a long time, even years. Is it possible to send an email from your side?
I send a newsletter several times a month to 3,700 people
For forum members, some receive the « weekly digest », others have unsubscribed from emails, and I respect their choice.
I am anti-spam and I wouldnât want to be solicited like that. In any case, I think the interested people are already in the newsletter which is doing quite well
At the end of 2020, I installed yunohost on a Raspberry Pi4, notably to install Nextcloud and WordPress.
On this occasion, I noticed that it was possible to install Domotiz, Home Assistant, and Jeedom in 1 click.
You intrigue me, Iâm taking a closer look because I donât know.
Edit: This forces us to repack the application without controlling the environment, which we do with a Docker image. Itâs quite possible, but I think we donât have the time/resources for it at the moment.
