Hi everyone!
As every year, I like to take the temperature of the project to find out what you like about Gladys / what
It would be a good idea to run a poll on the type of hardware and OS on which Gladys is deployed ![]()
Already 97 responses to the survey! ![]()
Thanks to those who took the time, and a gentle reminder for those who haven’t yet had time to respond ![]()
The only thing that’s frustrating when reading the replies is that I want to reply to them and sometimes there’s no email ![]()
Quite often, you talk about a feature hoping it exists in Gladys when it already does, and that’s frustrating! ![]()
I replied to some of you by email where an email address was provided
Give us a « general » compilation of the overall sentiment and responses. We too would like to know what others are saying ![]()
I’ll do a compilation during my New Year’s livestream as usual and post the results here ![]()
But I’ll spoil it a little: it’s really good this year! There’s a lot of optimism — the community seems very pleased with the breakneck pace of development in 2023. It’s very cool!
Hi Pierre - Gilles,
Other ideas (in no particular order):
Already a very good job done! Impressive work on the different integrations and scenarios. Not easy to make progress on everything at once.
On my side I’m trying to see how to install Gladys on a Raspberry Pi (raspi) (that part is fine) but be able to access it via an external URL (I discovered in particular the « no-ip » service which I need to test)

Maybe an index of the available features would be necessary (as well as a tutorial).
Yes, that’s going to be a lot of work!
Maybe creating a GPT with all the information could be useful?
I had just answered the survey and right after I noticed that there was no search function on gladysassistant.com.
I was looking for how to use the thermostat function.
I searched on the forum with the search function.
On the Docs on gladysassistant.com
And I remembered that you talked about it in a video (with the calculation functions), that one was the most useful to me.
Yes, you can find the info, you just have to remember to search across the three channels.
For info the Thermostat Video is here
Why not if there is demand, although it’s a fairly complicated topic if you want to do it right. Typically, just for electrical consumption the « naive » way to do it is to take the average grams of CO2 emitted per kWh (in the user’s country) and apply that to the consumption.
The real way would be to have a historical API of the carbon intensity of production at hour H and recompute the consumption hour by hour.
But why not, feel free to create a Demande de fonctionnalités if you want that to come to Gladys ![]()
I think most ISPs already have a home-automation program, I’m not sure Gladys is at the stage right now to go talk to big ISPs
But maybe in the future!
Are you thinking of a specific system? Feel free to create a Demande de fonctionnalités!
No one has ever asked but I’m just as transparent about expenses as about income.
I could write a summary article or mention it in my annual report in January ![]()
To be brief here, yes of course there are a bunch of expenses:
To share a screenshot from my online accountant:
In 2023, the operating result (annual) is €3720; it’s positive because I applied for public grants and needed equity to apply.
Also, I don’t pay myself and the goal is to reinvest 100% of the revenue into growth. So in theory the goal is to close the fiscal year with €0 profit.
Use Gladys Plus
It’s the best for that!
It is possible to install Gladys on a Synology system that offers a native DLNA feature
Or install this NAS solution OpenMediaVault on a PC, mini-PC, Raspberry Pi which provides DLNA features, then add Gladys as a container managed by OpenMediaVault or install Gladys in parallel over SSH or via the CLI
