Hi everyone,
I’d like to introduce my new external FF-Agent integration for Gladys Assistant. This allows you to receive FF-Agent alerts in Gladys, display them in the dashboard, and use them as triggers for scenes. Additionally, you can send an acceptance or rejection directly to FF-Agent from Gladys.
The integration is publicly available and has already been tested in production.
What can the integration do?
The integration connects two areas:
- Incoming alerts: FF-Agent reports an alert to Gladys. This appears in the dashboard and can trigger scenes.
- Personal feedback: You can inform FF-Agent whether you accept or reject via the widget or a scene action.
The interface and documentation are available in German, English, and French.
What can you use this for?
The most important use case is to make your home react meaningfully to an alert. For example, you can use a Gladys scene to:
- turn on the light in the bedroom, hallway, or entrance area at night;
- output an additional notification or a hint about already set up Gladys functions;
- turn on selected devices or start an existing scene;
- display the alert on a wall tablet in the Gladys dashboard.
Which devices and actions you use depends, of course, on your Gladys installation. The integration provides the alert trigger; you define the desired reaction yourself in your scenes.
Feedback can also be integrated into scenes, for example for a deliberately activated button. An automatic acceptance or rejection is not required for use.
The Dashboard Widget
The widget shows whether a locally received alert is open. In case of an alert, the reception time and two buttons appear:
- Accept
- Reject
The feedback is sent immediately upon clicking, without an additional confirmation query.
After a successfully transmitted acceptance, the green display remains until you select „End Mission“. This button only ends the local display in Gladys – it does not send any further request and does not end a mission in FF-Agent.
After a successfully transmitted rejection, the widget switches directly back to the idle state. The last sent decision and its time remain visible, i.e., „Acceptance sent“ or „Rejection sent“. The times appear in the local time zone of your browser.
A newly incoming alert reopens the alert display. Alert status and last feedback are only held in the RAM and are lost upon a restart of the integration.
How does the alert reception work?
For incoming alerts, the integration uses a webhook via Gladys Plus:
- FF-Agent sends an HTTP-POST to the personal webhook URL upon an alert.
- Gladys Plus forwards the signal to your Gladys instance.
- The integration updates the widget and triggers the scene trigger „Mission received“.
Intentionally without mission details
The integration processes exclusively the alert signal. The content of the webhook is ignored. No mission keywords, addresses, mission IDs, or other mission details are stored or passed on to scenes.
The scene trigger contains only the locally generated reception time. There are therefore no filters by mission type or similar evaluations by design.
How do acceptances and rejections work?
Feedback uses the personal FF-Agent web links from:
FF-Agent → Personal Profile → „Weblinks for mission report“
In Gladys, you only store your feedback UUID from this, not the complete link.
For acceptances, you can select a standard mode of transport:
- Car
- Bicycle
- On foot
The transmitted coordinates come from the selected Gladys home. It is therefore not a live location of your smartphone. When accepting via a scene action, the mode of transport can optionally be overridden for this single call.
Rejections only require the feedback UUID. Neither of the two feedbacks requires a mission ID to be entered.
Testing and important notes
You can also test the widget without an incoming FF-Agent webhook via „Simulate mission“.
Important: A simulation is not a protected test mode. It triggers the same scene trigger as a real alert. The feedback buttons and integrated acceptance/rejection actions also send real requests to FF-Agent in this case. Therefore, check your scenes before testing.
I look forward to feedback, experiences, and suggestions for improvement – especially from other FF-Agent users who want to connect their alerts with Gladys and their smart home.
