I’m very happy to launch Gladys Assistant 4.45 today, which includes the move to DuckDB, a revolutionary new database system that will change everything in Gladys, and honestly this really isn’t clickbait
I talk about it in a blog post:
I can’t wait to get your feedback once the update and migration are done: how big is your DB (before/after)?
Thanks again to the testers who helped with the development of this update!
Note: Please feel free to favorite/retweet the launch post on Twitter to help spread the word about Gladys!
@pierre-gilles : Bravo, very eager to benefit from this revolution!
I’m just flagging a small oddity on my end, because Gladys is still on 4.44 and so logically I don’t have a migration started when I connect locally, but I see this when I connect via Gladys Plus :
Thanks @pierre-gilles
Migration completed successfully in 38 minutes.
SQLite database: 17 GB
DuckDB database: 218 MB
Database cleanup in progress.
You made our tasks extremely easy, that’s great.
Well done again on this masterful work.
Jean Paul
Hello everyone,
This short post to let you know that Gladys installed itself on its own (automatically) last night. I just purged the SQLite database.
Everything works perfectly. A big thank you, Pierre-Gilles

After the migration I do notice changes in my graphs. They aren’t necessarily faster to display (they were already very fast, so not a noticeable difference), but they’re much more « beautiful ».
I have no idea why, but they’re smoother, and I notice that for my temperature sensors, when viewing the last hour, I often had a tiny curve (basically a small line in the middle of the chart) as if data were missing to display a complete curve.
That’s no longer the case and my curves look great now
