Gladys Assistant 4.61: Switch to Zigbee2mqtt 2.4.0

Hello everyone :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m releasing today Gladys Assistant 4.61, with the major improvement being the upgrade to Zigbee2MQTT 2.4.0!

:white_check_mark: Zigbee2MQTT updated to version 2.4.0

For better compatibility with new Zigbee devices, Gladys Assistant is moving to the new major version of Zigbee2MQTT.

If you use the Zigbee2MQTT container launched by Gladys, it will be automatically updated to version 2.4.0, with no action required on your part.

If you notice any regressions, feel free to let me know :slightly_smiling_face:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: PR : #2334

:fog: Support for PM2.5 fine particulate sensors via Matter

Gladys now supports PM2.5 sensors via the Matter protocol, allowing better detection of air quality in your smart home.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: PR : #2327

:gear: Improved loading states in Matter

The user experience when adding or configuring a Matter device has been smoothed with better loading indicators.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: PR : #2340

:automobile: Electric vehicles: Tire pressure, battery and controls

New capabilities for connected vehicles are now available:

  • Tire pressure reading with automatic unit conversion
  • Battery level tracking
  • Controls for certain vehicles (locking, charge limit, etc…)

:backhand_index_pointing_right: PRs : #2338, #2324

:globe_showing_europe_africa: Automatic conversion of distance units (km/mi, etc.)

The dashboard now automatically converts distances between the imperial (US) and metric systems, for a more consistent experience depending on your country.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: PR : #2323

:hammer_and_wrench: Fixes and improvements

  • :thermometer: Fix for the temperature chart on the demo dashboard. :backhand_index_pointing_right: PR : #2333
  • :divide: Fix for a condition on decimal variables in scenes. :backhand_index_pointing_right: PR : #2335
  • :sun_behind_small_cloud: Fix for a translation error in the weather widget in French. :backhand_index_pointing_right: PR : #2336
  • :link: Removal of dead links in the documentation (README). :backhand_index_pointing_right: PR : #2337

Thanks to all contributors for this release: @Terdious, @cicoub13, @qleg :raising_hands:

I’ve lost all my Zigbee2MQTT (z2m) sensors after the update
How can I

What do you mean by ‹ lost ›? I’d like a lot more details

Hello,
I had to re-pair two sensors and I noticed a change in the Lux value for a light sensor at the exact moment the new version was installed:

Same here. Aqara and Sonoff sensors not working since the update. I updated the Sonoff dongle and reinstalled everything in Zigbee2Mqtt! You have to be rigorous because Glad

I had about fifty devices, I now have only 2 left (the only two not integrated into Gladys)

So I’m not crazy yet ,
Tanos passed through here — my Sonoff, Aqara, Ikea, etc. have disappeared
It doesn’t really reassure me to have to reintegrate everything that was running without any issues..

While restoring koenkk/zigbee2mqtt:1.42.0 and a backup from 4 months ago, it partially came back.
I need to re-add the missing devices

I’ve set com.centurylinklabs.watchtower.enable to false in the meantime

I assume you’re talking about the Zigbee2Mqtt side? By any chance were you able to find an error log on the Zigbee2Mqtt side that could explain why everything disappeared when upgrading from 1.42.0 to 2.4.0?

Which Zigbee dongle do you have?

When you say « HS », did they completely disappear from Zigbee2Mqtt?

You should check the Zigbee2Mqtt forum (here) to see if other users had the same issue when updating; maybe some configurations cause problems…

In any case, on the Gladys side, we’re only updating the Zigbee2mqtt container from 1.42.0 to 2.4.0, nothing else changes so I don’t know if we could have done anything more to prevent this kind of problem from happening

For luminosity, there were changes on the Zigbee2mqtt side to unify brightness values across all devices, so what you’re seeing is normal

Good evening everyone.
I had moved to version 2.3.0 on an external zigbee2mqtt.
So I decided to put zigbee2mqtt management back under Gladys by selecting « Install from Gladys » — unfortunately what I thought would take me 5 minutes took 7 hours because it didn’t work, and switching back to an external zigbee2mqtt didn’t work either.
I resolved it by removing the Docker container « gladys-z2m-zigbee2mqtt » created by Gladys and recreating it manually.
sudo docker run \\
--name gladys-z2m-zigbee2mqtt \\
--restart=unless-stopped \\
--network=host \\
` --device=/dev/serial/by-id/usb-1

Actually I had red triangles or wheels that kept spinning non-stop. Despite several reboots. I had to force the deletions and start from scratch

Do I need to flash the dongle given the updates that have been made?

In my opinion, no — if your dongle is recognized, there’s no reason to flash it.

On the Zigbee2mqtt side, were you able to see any error messages or logs?

By any chance, weren’t you impatient « too early » and simply stopped Zigbee2mqtt while it was being installed or updated?

I imagine you’re referring to this thread, I think it would be better to discuss it there so as not to mix everything up

Wouldn’t it be interesting to share the various configurations we have to see the hardware/software differences between those for whom it went well vs those for whom it went badly?

As for me, I didn’t have any problems, but very few Zigbee devices:

Would it be possible to have logs in the configuration interface of the Zigbee2mqtt integration (closed by default but displayable)?

On my side, I have 40 Zigbee devices and a Sonoff Dongle-P dongle, the migration went smoothly :

I had done a test with another setup on a Sonoff Dongle-E dongle, and the migration also went smoothly

Indeed, it’s true that a status report is missing in Gladys; we’ll have to see what form that could take!

Sorry, indeed I wasn’t clear  !

Indeed I’m talking about the Z2M side and not Gladys and they all disappeared except an IKEA button and a vibration sensor (which were the only ones not renamed and integrated into Gladys)

I have a sonoff-p dongle (from memory):

No logs unfortunately, I have about ten logs from the 24th but none from before.
Do you think it’s possible to have log rotation over a week in the config?

Thanks a lot in advance @pierre-gilles
