Gladys by the end of 2026: big news and an ambitious plan 🚀

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well!

I just got back from a short but truly rejuvenating vacation, and I’m full of energy for what’s to come :slightly_smiling_face:

I wanted to use this post to share some personal news that will directly impact the project by the end of the year:

I’m going to become a dad in early December! :baby::tada:

It’s an immense joy, a real life change, and I can’t wait to discover this new adventure :slightly_smiling_face:

The Plan for the End of 2026

Depending on the delivery date (between early November and early December), I have between 17 and 25 days left to dedicate to Gladys by the end of the year. I will then be on paternity leave for at least 2 months.

Rather than seeing this as a constraint, I see it as a real opportunity: to make Gladys stronger, more open, and less dependent on me. My goal is to use each of these days where they will have the most impact, so that the project continues to move forward fully during my absence.

External integrations were already at the heart of this approach: they allow everyone to extend Gladys without waiting for a development to go through me. I want to go even further and open as many doors as possible to the community.

The Roadmap

Here are the projects I have identified. Let’s be honest: I’m not sure I can accomplish everything before I leave. I will therefore tackle them in order, starting with those that will have the most impact to unlock the community. Everything that is completed will be a real step forward, and what remains will constitute a clear basis for the future.

20 days is a lot if they are well used, but it can go by very quickly if I get scattered. To stay focused on the essentials, I will count on you, especially for mutual aid on the forum.

If you want to lend a hand but lack the rights to do so, let me know, we’ll sort it out quickly. These coming weeks will be a real full-scale test: showing that the Gladys community is strong and that the project can move forward collectively. And I am convinced we will succeed :flexed_biceps:

And for the Future: Living from Gladys

Since mid-2026, I have been multiplying experiments to make Gladys known to more people and make Gladys Plus increasingly attractive. My goal is clear: to be able to live from the project by 2027 and devote myself to it 100%.

With the arrival of a child, my current schedule will no longer be sustainable. My wish is therefore to focus entirely on Gladys, if monetization allows it. This would be a decisive step for the future of the project.

A huge thank you to all those who already support Gladys through Gladys Plus: it is thanks to you that this dream becomes possible :heart:

The coming months promise to be intense and exciting, I can’t wait to live them with you!

Congratulations to both of you. I wish you, especially the mom, that the last few days go as well as possible.

Great projection for Gladys.

I don’t know if you remember, but I asked you about the fact that Gladys depends a lot on you.

I find this opening very healthy for current and future users.

Personally, with winter approaching, the thermostat seems interesting to work on.
However, in my case, using electric underfloor heating and electric radiators, I don’t know if it would be of great use to me.
Additionally, a calendar specific to Gladys, without going through framagenda, would be a plus to avoid an external service, even if it works very well.

Now you just need to develop functions so that Gladys can monitor the baby, give the bottle…:joy:

For things to consider, I’d also say the thermostat before winter could be useful.

Just regarding the development program, personally I’ve always had a soft spot for finalizing the Thermostat project, which in my opinion adds value to the energy management aspect…and ecological transition. :wink:

While reading, I thought that the feature I’d like to have the most would be the thermostat…

What wonderful news. Well done to both of you. Do you think you could develop an integration with Claude to interpret a baby’s cries: I’m hungry, I’m thirsty, I’m in pain, what are you waiting for to change me! It could probably be useful to others too!

I agree with priority 1, which will offer quite a few possibilities for external integrations and will allow Gladys to live on during your well-deserved absence.

Same for priority 2.

Perhaps the « thermostat » project should be moved up before priority 3 (or even before 2).

(And for the « baby cry translator Â» integration, I’ll note the idea, I think there’s a real market :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

On the thermostat

I agree with you: it’s a very important feature, especially as winter approaches, and it is clearly one of my priorities.

When I built this list, I asked myself one question: what, if I develop it now, will allow the project to continue moving forward during my paternity leave?

The thermostat is a great feature, but once delivered, it remains just one feature among others.

On the other hand, opening widgets and scenes to external integrations, or allowing external integrations to define energy contracts, these are doors that open for the entire community. Everyone will be able to build on it, even when I’m not there. This is what makes the project less dependent on me, and as @gaetanb76 reminded us, it’s an essential point for the future of Gladys.

The multiplier effect is enormous: each day spent opening doors in Gladys can bring x10, x100, x1000 to the project, because everyone can then build on these foundations.

That’s why, in my opinion, the thermostat is less of a priority than priorities #1 and #2.

However, when it comes to priority #3, the question really arises, and I’m open to moving it up :slightly_smiling_face:

Congratulations! Another production deployment is in the works! Enjoy these moments as a trio, we’ll talk again during the support period. (I can already see baby swing automation and scene creation on the « Baby Cries Â» trigger coming.)

Great news! Congratulations @pierre-gilles, and it’s really nice to take the time to welcome this baby by cutting off any other concerns…

I agree with the shared opinion to bring the thermostat function back up.

I also wonder: are you going to continue with the momentum of the latest major versions by developing the evolution requests that are already listed? There are several that are in to-be-processed, and I didn’t quite understand if your AI agents will automatically take them on or if there needs to be an action on your part to trigger the process.

As for me, I would be particularly interested in these 4 requests to then improve or simplify my scenes during my winter evenings :wink: :

I’m back after three months at home, I find Gladys completely changed, and a hundred times better than before. Really, I doubted a little bit at the beginning, but now I’m a super fan!
