Back to the topic of controlling Android TV via Gladys. Since the PR was closed for inactivity and overwrote the original branch, I had to recreate a PR — here it is
Thanks to @GBoulvin I was able to add applications to the mapping for a more accurate display in Gladys. Gwenaël, don’t be surprised, I only kept the important apps (mainly media) in the mapping. Those used, for example, by support such as feedback messaging, Google Mobile Services… seem less relevant to me, and we risk multiplying requests for additions for each TV manufacturer.
As for your request about automatic IP detection, I won’t be able to do it (at least for the time being). I use Google’s emulator for developers to run Android TV on my development machine, with port forwarding on certain ports to make the command work from Gladys, and unfortunately network detection doesn’t seem to work properly in that case. I’ll think about a solution
And if we follow the current trend, is it conceivable to do a « silent » release without automatic detection?
The user must declare the Android TV’s IP for this v1, then we report the bugs and v2 could be released « with much fanfare » with fewer bugs and automatic detection?
