Integration of Shelly modules

Hello
I don’t know where to post this question
Are Shelly modules compatible or will they be? I find these modules great and not too expensive
Thanks
Great work

Hello @pascal_sapin

Gladys doesn’t have a Shelly integration per se, but Gladys can do two things:

  • Send/receive MQTT messages via our MQTT integration, and I think Shelly has an MQTT API?

See the documentation here on the Gladys side:

  • Send HTTP requests in scenes, and I think the Shelly modules have an HTTP API

See the documentation on the Gladys side:

On the side of developing a Shelly integration, I haven’t heard of any development. It would be up to a community member to do so and decide to develop a Gladys integration.

In my opinion, you can already do a lot with the links above

Hello,

The tools offered here look great! But I have an issue: Shelly products publish to a topic and I can’t configure them differently… for example:

shellies/shellycolorbulb-485519DA31DB/color/0/status

Is there a way in gladys to listen to a specific topic? And not only gladys/master/device/…

I’m discovering MQTT, so maybe there’s another solution I don’t know.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Regards

Unfortunately, that is not possible as it stands.
You either need to develop an integration, or go through Node-RED which will serve as a gateway…

If this can help you (if you don’t already have it), the Shelly plugin available for eedomus:

It’s possible to do that in the scenes  There’s a trigger for that! It will be a bit of a hack though, but it can work

For a complete and simple integration, you’ll need a Shelly integration. It shouldn’t be very difficult to implement.

Thanks so much for your answers. I’ll take a look at all of that!

Shelly offers quality hardware at very reasonable prices, so I vote in favor of an official integration. Shelly is not going to close shop tomorrow.

I’m following up on @jumpto’s message

It’s possible to listen on a specific MQTT topic in Gladys in scenes:

This would allow you to trigger a scene if a Shelly device’s status changes.

That said, I agree it doesn’t replace an official integration, but it’s already an option while waiting for someone to propose development

I had made a feature request which you can vote on

Even though ideally the development of the integration would be best, it would allow covering all the needs not yet implemented in Gladys and thus attract potential users

Otherwise @jumpto you can use this tutorial as a basis to adapt it to Shelly

Hello,
Unless I’m mistaken
The first message requesting integration for the Shelly modules dates from 2022. Has a complete integration been implemented since then?
Thank you

Hi @luke!

There haven’t been any developments on this topic.

Given the number of votes (only 1), I don’t get the impression that this brand is very popular.

Feel free to vote to show your interest!

Hello,
Too bad, their modules are good and very competitive

Yes ! As always, if there’s demand I’d be happy to offer development myself or to fund hardware for someone who would like to do the development

And if anyone wants to get started, don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions. I’m always available, and I help until it’s in production with users.

Yet Shelly is fairly well-known in the home automation community.

@luke It is possible to integrate it into Gladys via MQTT, which is natively integrated in Shelly devices

It’s a shame they offer their own non-standard, homegrown APIs instead of sticking to a standard — it’s kind of like Tuya but local ^^

I saw they’re offering Matter on their new devices; won’t their in-house API eventually be phased out?

Hello,
there will be an announcement at the end of the day

Otherwise, I saw that there was a Shelly ↔ Matter bridge:

Which would allow using older Shelly devices via the Matter protocol.

I think it would be rather « future-proof » to develop compatibility with Matter in Gladys to integrate these devices, rather than developing compatibility with a homebrew, non-standard protocol specific to Shelly.

The GEN 4 will have Matter certification

wifi, bluetooth, matter, zigbee on every device …
