External integration - Bosch Smart Home

Hello everyone!

Bosch Smart Home is everywhere in Germany, and we’re seeing more and more of it here, especially for room-by-room heating. Good news: the controller has a local API. Everything therefore works locally, without cloud, between Gladys and your Smart Home Controller.

What it does

  • Room-by-room heating: temperature, setpoint to half a degree, Off / Manual / Program mode, heating request. Thermostat heads and room thermostats report their temperature (and humidity).
  • Door and window contacts, motion detectors, smoke detectors, and water leak detectors.
  • Outlets (on/off, power, energy connected to Gladys’ energy screens), switches, and micro modules.
  • Shutters and blinds: position, open, close, stop.
  • Low battery alert on each battery-powered device.
  • Intrusion alarm in read-only mode: armed or not, alarm triggered, status.
  • Two triggers: « Smoke detector in alarm » (which distinguishes « detected here » and « relayed by another detector ») and « Universal switch pressed » (short or long press).
  • A widget that summarizes the house: open doors and windows, low batteries, silent devices.
  • Changes arrive in real time.
  • In French, English, German, and Spanish.

On the alarm side, I’ve been cautious: it is read-only by default. With the option « Allow arming from Gladys », a scene action can arm it (total, partial, or custom protection). Disarming or turning it off is never possible from Gladys: a scene, a voice assistant, or a shared dashboard should not be able to disable the home’s protection. For that, it’s the Bosch app.

The cool part

Smoke detected → all lights on, shutters open, and everyone notified with the room
Long press on the universal switch’s bottom button → everything closed and turned off for the night
Window open for more than 2 minutes → room heating set to Off, then back to Program when closed

Installation

:warning: Gladys 5.1 minimum.

It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-bosch-shc: Bosch Smart Home Controller (local API) for Gladys Assistant · GitHub

  1. You need a Smart Home Controller I or II, and its system password.
  2. In Gladys: the controller’s IP address and system password, then save.
  3. Press the controller button until it blinks, then click Pair. The system password is only sent to the controller, then deleted from Gladys.
  4. Discovery tab: add your devices.

Honest small reservations

  • One controller per Gladys.
  • No Twinguard, cameras, dimmers, or colored lights, nor the boost and eco presets of the heating.
  • The alarm can only be armed, optionally, never disarmed or turned off: this is intentional.
  • Private and non-commercial use, as required by Bosch’s local API terms.
  • Developed without the hardware, and it’s a local device: I therefore couldn’t verify anything on a real controller. Everything was tested against a fake controller that reproduces pairing and the API, but the actual pairing and the shape of each model’s responses remain to be confirmed. If you have a Bosch Smart Home, your feedback is precious, starting with pairing.

Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with Bosch.
