Hi everyone!
For our Dutch and Belgian friends: Buienradar in Gladys, no key
or account needed. It’s a weather provider: it feeds the weather widget and
Gladys assistant, just like Météo-France or DWD.
What it does
- Current weather from the nearest Buienradar station: temperature, feels
like, dew point, wind and gusts, humidity, pressure, visibility, sunrise and
sunset. Plus 5-day forecasts. - Rain radar for the Netherlands and Belgium, in the weather widget.
- Rain for the next 2 hours, in 5-minute intervals, for each house placed
on the map: what makes Buienradar famous. - Two scene triggers: « Rain expected » (in 5 to 120 minutes, light, moderate
or heavy) and « Rain stopped » (after 15 minutes dry). - A scene action « Rain for the next 2 hours »: dry or not, minutes before
rain, peak, total, and a summary ready to send (French, English or Dutch). - A widget « Rain for the next 2 hours »: a graph in 5-minute intervals.
The cool thing
- Rain expected → garden watering is canceled.
- In the morning, before leaving by bike: « Dry until 9:40, then light shower ».
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum. It will be in the store at the next indexer run. In a
rush? Integrations → Install from GitHub, with the address
Accept access to the position of your houses and check that your house is
placed on the map. Nothing else to configure: Test Buienradar confirms
that everything responds.
A few reservations
- Coverage: current weather comes from Dutch stations. A house within 80 km
of one of them is covered (the Netherlands, northern Belgium, the German
border). Rain in 2 hours and the radar cover the Netherlands and all of
Belgium. Outside coverage, Gladys switches to its next weather provider. - No hourly forecasts: the Buienradar stream doesn’t provide them.
- It was dry everywhere on the day of development. The rain format comes from
real responses, but feedback during a real downpour would be very welcome. - Buienradar data is free for non-commercial use, with source attribution:
« Data: Buienradar.nl » is displayed everywhere.
