External integration - Flipr (pool analyzer and Flipr Hub)

Hello everyone,

For those who have a pool equipped with a Flipr, here is an external integration that brings its measurements and the Flipr Hub into Gladys.

What it does

The Flipr is a floating analyzer that sends its measurements to the Flipr cloud approximately once per hour. Without a local API, the integration reads this cloud (cloud transport) with the email and password from the Flipr app, every 15 minutes by default. Nothing is sent elsewhere. Gladys does not have a native Flipr integration.

Features

  • Analyzer: water temperature, pH, chlorine, redox, battery, and the pH and chlorine evaluation given by Flipr (too low → too high).
  • Flipr Hub: filtration on/off and mode (automatic, manual, programming), controllable from Gladys.
  • 4 scene triggers: new measurement, water evaluation changed, no measurement for 24 hours, filtration switched by the Hub.
  • 2 scene actions: read the last measurement, change the filtration mode.
  • A widget “Pool Water”.

Scene examples:

  • when the pH or chlorine goes to “Too low” or “Too high” → send me a message with the summary;
  • when there are no measurements for 24 hours → remind me to check the battery;
  • during off-peak hours → start filtration, then switch back to programming.

Installation

  • From the store: search for “Flipr”. Available within the day, pending indexing.
  • Or from the repository URL: https://github.com/William-De71/gladys-flipr.

Minimum Gladys version: 5.1.0.

  1. Enter the email and password from the Flipr app, then save.
  2. Devices → Flipr → Discovery: add the analyzer and the Hub.
  3. Add the “Pool Water” widget and create your scenes.

Known limitations

  • The API is that of the Flipr app, undocumented: I relied on the flipr-api library used by Home Assistant. It can change without notice.
  • The company behind Flipr was liquidated in 2025; the service has been running again since 2026.
  • I couldn’t test with a real Flipr account, only against the responses documented by flipr-api: your feedback is precious, especially for the Hub.
  • Gladys does not have a “chlorine” category: it’s a decimal sensor in ppm (= mg/L), displayed with its name.
  • The values arrive with a slight delay (one measurement per hour, one reading every 15 minutes).
Technical details
  • One device per module, identified by its serial number.
  • Starting or stopping filtration puts the Hub in manual mode, as the Flipr app does.
  • The “filtration switched” trigger only reacts to changes made by the Hub itself, never to commands sent from Gladys (no loop).
  • The first reading after a startup serves as a reference: no old events are replayed.

Your feedback

In response to this thread or in a GitHub issue, with the versions of Gladys and the integration, your Flipr hardware, and the logs (ideally with DEBUG=gladys-integration-sdk; the password never appears there).
