Hello everyone!
We continue on the roofs: after SolarEdge, Fronius, and Anker Solix, here comes Growatt, inverters that we often see in private homes, often with an ARK battery next to them. The goal is simple: to know what the panels are producing without opening the ShinePhone app, and to use this information in scenes.
What it does
- One device per installation: production power, daily production, production index.
- One device per inverter:
- the status (normal, waiting, fault, offline) and temperature;
- the solar power, voltage, and current of each panel string, output power;
- daily production and its index.
- Depending on the equipment: the battery (level, power, charge, and discharge), the grid meter (import and export), and the house consumption.
- All meters are ready for Gladys 5.2 energy tracking. The production correctly counts the energy from the panels, not the energy that a hybrid battery returns.
- The small quirks of Growatt meters at midnight (an index that drops to zero, the value of the previous day returned) are filtered.
- A « Solar View » widget, a « Inverter status changed » trigger, and a Test Connection button.
- In French, English, German, and Spanish.
The cool thing
The inverter goes into fault or offline → message
Export exceeds 1500 W and the battery 90% → the water heater turns on
Every evening at 9 p.m. → daily production by message
Installation
Gladys 5.1 minimum.
It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-growatt: Growatt solar inverters and batteries for Gladys Assistant · GitHub
- The simplest and safest: a Growatt OpenAPI token. Some accounts can create it in the account settings on server.growatt.com; otherwise, ask the Growatt support or your installer. Failing that, the ShinePhone app’s username and password also work.
- In Gladys: choose the connection mode (OpenAPI Token or ShinePhone Account), fill it in, choose the region, then Test Connection.
- Discovery tab: add the installation and inverters.
Honest small reservations
- The OpenAPI token is the safest. The connection with the ShinePhone username and password also works, but Growatt can block it at any time (it only accepts connections that present themselves as its app). If this happens, the integration clearly states this and directs you to the token.
- Read-only: no inverter settings from Gladys.
- Everything goes through the Growatt cloud, which does not refresh more often than every five minutes.
- The per-inverter detail exists for the MIN, TL-X, TL-XH, MOD, MIC families, and the SPH hybrids. The MAX, SPA, NOAH, and standalone storage only count in the installation totals (the Test Connection button tells you this).
- The installation and its inverters count the same production: in energy tracking, only put one of the two, otherwise it will be counted twice.
- Developed without an inverter. I verified from my home that both connections to the real Growatt server (OpenAPI token and ShinePhone account) go all the way and properly refuse a fake account, but no real account has gone through yet: the units of the grid meter of the SPH and the translation of the status codes remain to be confirmed. If you have a Growatt, your feedback interests me a lot.
Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with Growatt.
