External integration - Octopus Energy France

cover-octopus-fr

Hi everyone!

Series „French-style home“, episode bills: you are more and more numerous at Octopus Energy (formerly Plüm). This integration brings back to Gladys what the customer space says: consumption, what it costs, and above all when the off-peak hours start, to finally start the water heater at the right time without looking at the contract.

What it does

  • One device per meter, Linky or Gazpar, with:
    • consumption and cost of the last day recorded, and those of the month;
    • the account balance, the next due date and its date, the name of the offer;
    • „Off-peak hours in progress“, the tariff period, the current price of the kWh and the off-peak hours of your contract.
  • Electricity powers Gladys’ energy tracking, day by day, at the right date despite Enedis’ delay.
  • Three triggers: „Start of off-peak hours“, „End of off-peak hours“ and „New day recorded“. They only go off once, at the minute, and never at Gladys’ restart.
  • An action „Read the balance of an Octopus meter“, and a widget (day, month, cost, current period, balance).
  • In French, English, German and Spanish.

Off-peak hours are calculated from the contract, on site: no need to ask Octopus every minute.

The cool thing

Start of off-peak hours → water heater on; end of off-peak hours → water heater off
Start of off-peak hours → car charging, and a message with the end time
New day recorded → „Yesterday: 14 kWh, 3.20 €. This month: 48 €“

Installation

:warning: Gladys 5.2 minimum.

It will arrive in the store at the next indexer pass. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-octopus-fr: Octopus Energy France consumption, cost and off-peak hours for Gladys Assistant · GitHub

  1. Enter the e-mail and password of your Octopus customer space (Octopus France does not offer an API key).
  2. Discovery tab: add your meters.

Honest small reservations

  • No real time: readings arrive with one or two days delay, like in the customer space.
  • Energy tracking receives whole days: a full/off-peak hours contract created in Gladys cannot therefore distribute them between its two prices.
  • Gas remains out of energy tracking (Gladys would add it to the electricity meter), and its cost is estimated at the price of the kWh of the contract, Octopus not giving an amount.
  • In Tempo, the period is given, but not the color of the day, which comes from RTE.
  • Read-only. After a refused password, the integration stops trying until you change the configuration, to avoid locking your account.
  • Developed without an Octopus account. I checked from home that the connection to the real Octopus Energy France service goes all the way and properly refuses a fake account, but no one has used it yet with a real account: if you are a customer, your feedback interests me a lot.

Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with Octopus Energy.
