Hi everyone!
At our place, consumption tracking is done via Linky. In the United States, many electricity and gas providers display yours through the same platform, Opower. This integration fetches it from your provider’s website, using your account, and stores it in Gladys’ energy tracking. For forum members in the United States, therefore.
What it does
- One device per meter, electricity and gas if your account has both.
- The electricity goes into the Gladys 5.2 energy tracking, hour by hour, dated at the time it was actually consumed (providers publish it with one or two days’ delay).
- For each meter: the consumption and cost of the last complete day and the current month, and the bill estimate.
- A « Provider Energy Balance» widget with the last 14 days.
- Two triggers: « New Consumption Day» and « Provider Connection to Redo».
- 18 providers: PG&E, ConEd, ComEd, PECO, BGE, Pepco, Delmarva, Atlantic City Electric, AEP (Ohio, Texas, Appalachian Power…), PSE, Duquesne, O&R…
- In French, English, German, and Spanish.
The cool part
New consumption day → message « Yesterday: 17.5 kWh, $5.25 »
The bill estimate exceeds $150 → notification, before the bad surprise
Provider connection to redo → reminder to enter the verification code
Installation
Gladys 5.2 minimum.
It will arrive in the store at the next indexer run. In the meantime: Integrations → Install from GitHub, with GitHub - guim31/gladys-opower: Electricity and gas usage from US utilities on the Opower platform for Gladys Assistant · GitHub
- Choose your provider, enter the username and password for its website, and the history to import (30 days by default, up to one year).
- At PG&E and Exelon companies (ComEd, PECO, BGE, Pepco…), sometimes a code is needed: launch « Send Verification Code» (email or SMS), then « Enter Code». At ConEd and O&R with two-factor authentication, paste the secret key from the authentication app.
- Discovery tab: add your meters.
Honest small reservations
- The data is one or two days late and is read every 12 hours: it’s a balance, not real-time.
- Gas is displayed in m³ but remains outside the energy tracking (Gladys only values electricity for now).
- One account per installation, and no water.
- Each provider has its own connection. Evergy, Eversource, SMUD, Seattle City Light, and about ten others are not yet supported, nor Duke Energy and Portland General. Request yours on GitHub.
- Developed without an account with a provider. I verified from home that the connection to PG&E, Con Edison, ComEd, AEP Ohio, and PSE goes as far as the proper refusal of a fake account (PSE remains noted as experimental). For other providers, nothing has been verified against the real website: your feedback is welcome.
Like the previous ones, developed with Claude Code. Independent project, not affiliated with Oracle Opower or the providers.
