Hello everyone!

Series « maison à la française », episode the cat that doesn’t come home at night: the Weenect GPS trackers, made in France, are on the collars of many cats and dogs, and sometimes in children’s school bags or a grandparent’s pocket. They are now available in Gladys, with the zones you have already drawn in the app.

What it does

  • One device per tracker, with:
    • the zone where it is located, based on your Weenect zones (« Home », « Garden », « School »…), and a presence per zone;
    • the battery, with the low battery alert;
    • the online / offline status;
    • the last position and its accuracy, with a link to the OpenStreetMap map;
    • the Ring, Vibrate and Request position buttons.
  • Two triggers: « Entered a zone » and « Left a zone ». An exit that occurred during a Gladys restart still triggers the scene.
  • An action « Start super live » (close monitoring), which never starts on its own.
  • A widget with all your trackers, or one with its buttons.
  • A « Zones only » setting: knowing if the child is at school without ever keeping their coordinates in Gladys.
  • In French, English, German and Spanish.

The cool thing

The cat leaves the garden → message with its battery and the link to the map
Between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays, the children enter the « Home » zone → « Léa is home »
The dog leaves the house in the middle of the night → super live started, then the map link on the phone

Installation

:warning: Gladys 5.1 minimum.

  1. You need a Weenect tracker with an active subscription, and the app account.
  2. In Gladys: the Weenect email and password, then Test the connection. Choose at the same time « Coordinates and zones » (by default) or « Zones only ».
  3. Discovery tab: add your trackers.

Honest small reservations

  • Gladys’ map does not yet know how to display a device: the position is given in text, with an OpenStreetMap link.
  • The zones are calculated by the integration from the position: within a few meters, it can differ from the app’s alerts.
  • The tracking mode, zones and SOS are still set in the Weenect app.
  • Weenect’s API is not public and can change without notice.
  • Developed without a tracker. I have checked from home that the connection to the real Weenect cloud goes all the way and properly refuses a fake account, but no one has used it yet with a real account: if you are equipped with a Weenect tracker, your feedback is very interesting to me. The duration of live tracking (about 5 minutes) is estimated.
