Hello everyone! I present to you SNMP, an external integration for Gladys 5.1+ that reads your SNMP (v1, v2c, v3) network devices and turns them into Gladys devices: reachable or not, response time, uptime, traffic, CPU, battery… Everything stays local, nothing goes through a cloud.
What the Integration Does
Each SNMP device becomes a Gladys device. You choose what it reports with profiles:
| Profile | What Gladys Receives | For Which Devices |
|---|---|---|
| (always) | Reachable (yes/no), response time (ms), uptime (days) | All |
interfaces |
Per port: active link, incoming and outgoing throughput (kbit/s) | Switches, routers, Wi-Fi access points |
host |
CPU load, used memory, fullest disk (%) | NAS, Linux/Windows servers |
ups |
Battery charge, autonomy, low battery, mains presence, voltage, charge, power | Eaton, APC UPS with network card… |
| Custom OID | Any OID, with category, unit, and scale | Everything else (NAS temperature, toner…) |
An OID can also be modifiable: it becomes a switch in Gladys, controlled by a SET SNMP. Useful for a PDU outlet or a PoE port.
Each device displays a local badge, or unreachable when it no longer responds.
Scenes and Dashboard (Gladys 5.1)
Triggers — one event per change, never on each query:
- An SNMP agent no longer responds (variables: name, host, reason)
- An SNMP agent responds again (variables: name, host, outage duration in minutes)
- A network interface changes state (active / down filter)
Scene Actions — they never stop the scene in case of failure, they return success and error:
- Read an SNMP value
- Write an SNMP value (cut a PDU outlet, restart a PoE port…)
- Query an agent now
« SNMP Agents » Widget — how many devices respond, one line per device with its response time, a « Query » button. Choose a device in its settings to also see its live values (CPU, memory, battery…).
Example: « if the UPS switches to battery, send me a message and turn off the NAS », or « if the box has not responded for 5 minutes, cut then restart its outlet ».
Installation and Configuration
- Enable SNMP on your devices. The easiest way: v2c with a read-only community (choose yours instead of
public). SNMPv3authPriv(SHA + AES) is supported. - In Gladys (5.1 minimum), install the SNMP integration from the integrations catalog.
- In the Configuration tab, list your devices, separated by commas, in the format
host[:port];name;profiles:
192.168.1.1;Router, 192.168.1.10;NAS;host, 192.168.1.20;UPS;ups
- Click Test Connection: each device tells if it responds, how long it takes, and its system name.
- Add the devices from the Discovery tab.
To follow switch ports, add your own OIDs, or use different credentials per device, paste a JSON list instead (see the documentation). Two buttons help fill it: List Interfaces (index and name of each port) and Browse an OID (to find the right value in a manufacturer’s MIB).
Known Limitations
- No automatic discovery: devices are declared manually.
- No SNMP traps yet, only polling (once per minute at most).
- CPU, memory, disk, and UPS load are displayed in the « unknown » category with a % unit, due to a lack of suitable Gladys category.
- On a large network, increase the refresh interval (e.g., 300 s) to avoid overloading the history.

This is a first version: your feedback interests me! Tell me which devices you have tested (brand, model, SNMP version), what works, what is missing. For a bug, a GitHub issue with the logs (without the community or keys) helps a lot.
