The Amazon Alexa integration is available in alpha! 🥳

Hello everyone!

Many of you have been waiting for it — the Alexa integration is now available in alpha

Concretely, it is now possible to control bulbs / plugs connected to Gladys (regardless of the technology, even DIY via MQTT), and to see them in Alexa, then control them from your smartphone or by voice at home :speaking_head:

If you’re interested you can go to that thread and post a message, I will contact you to give you access to the alpha:

Hello, it’s great news that you’re integrating Alexa since I use it and that the cameras are compatible with Alexa — that will be perfect
No problem doing the beta test; I already did it for Microsoft when they released their operating systems — I was a beta tester.

Attention : je ne suis pas très littéraire, donc je peux faire des fautes en français. Pour la traduction, j’utilise Google Traduction. Merci et je vous souhaite une très bonne journée.

Don’t worry, there’s always worse; what matters is the effort.

Is it just me, or has the Alexa skill stopped working?

It seems to be working on my end.

It’s also ok for me ,Alexa turned on my fan when I asked her.

Had you tested the beta?

hello,
no, Alexa was already integrated when I subscribed to Gladys +.

As for me, I paired Alexa and Gladys on July 2 after winning PG’s raffle!

I have the impression there’s a bug because the dev skill stopped (I switched to the prod one anyway but without success)

@JeuFore and @Terdious you were on the alpha, what do you see on your side?

@VonOx, I’m currently on vacation; I’ll check on site as soon as I get back on Monday. But indeed, on the app I also have the message « the server is not responding Â» …

That coincides with the end-of-beta-test email, doesn’t it?

Yeah, I got it too, so I disabled the skill and then re-enabled it. No luck.

Okay, I solved the problem.

  • disabling the skill
  • removing the devices
  • in Gladys DB I deleted the Alexa variable (not sure of its usefulness)
  • reactivating the skill and pairing

Hello
Thank you again.
I am not at home at the moment
As soon as I return I will be sure to test it.
And to give you feedback.
Kind regards

I admit that since my return, it’s been extremely detrimental. I realize that integration is now almost indispensable to me :sweat_smile:

Hi @VonOx @Terdious!

Back from vacation, I can confirm what you noticed — you’re both on the beta version of the Alexa integration, but apparently betas have a 90-day lifespan and are then automatically closed by Amazon! (bad luck it happened right in the middle of the holidays aha)

You need to migrate to the Alexa « prod Â» (production) app; however it’s a bit of a pain if you have to delete the « old Â» devices in the Alexa app — from what I remember on Google, when an app is unlinked the devices were deleted automatically..

How did you manage to delete everything ?
I started but one by one — with the loading times it took me 2 minutes for 4 devices… for 80 I wouldn’t have the patience… and I’m not keen on touching the DB directly on the production database… I think it’ll stay like that for now. Oh well ^^

It’s a crappy interface but you can do everything in bulk
