I’m new to your community. I adopted Gladys a few weeks ago after using Home Assistant. Due to lack of time, I couldn’t fully leverage Home Assistant, and I want to congratulate the entire team for developing Gladys.
I would now like to install Gladys at my in-laws’ place, who are in a situation of disability and face health and mobility difficulties. My goal is to be able to keep an eye on them remotely and be quickly alerted in case of a fall or other problem.
I would like to set up several high-quality cameras (ideally 4 MP) with person detection. In case of an event, I would like to receive an alert on several phones (notification, SMS, or call) and, if possible, have a two-way audio system to communicate with them.
To limit the load on Gladys, I thought about using motion detectors to analyze the video stream of a camera only when a presence is detected in the relevant room.
Do you think this type of installation is feasible with Gladys? If so, which cameras and architecture would you recommend?
I don’t see any blocking points, with simple scenes, maybe even AI (but you’ll need Gladys Plus to converse with the AI, which by the way supports the project )
For the cameras, I’m a bit stuck and I’ll actually take the info with pleasure.
What is certain: rather RTSP/ONVIF compatible camera, powered or battery in your case (if you launch the camera when there is movement detected by a dedicated sensor).
Regarding the infrastructure, what were you using for your HA?

Do you have dongles for radio protocols? (zigbee, zwave, etc..)
At my place, I had HAOS installed on an HP mini PC t530 with a 64GB SSD which still works very well, (bought on eBay for around sixty euros)
With a Sonoff dongle in PoE with two Hikvision 180° cameras also in PoE on a small switch connected directly to a Freebox Ultra on the SFP port
But now I no longer want to spend evenings or free time being a geek, hence the switch to Gladys for us.
This gives the idea of making a small configuration for my in-laws who are elderly and not in great shape.
This would be to set up a mini PC with Gladys with the option of Gladys Plus. For the AI that can control the camera flow pilot based on movements.
With the possibility of triggering an alert if a person has fallen or had a fainting spell
With 3 or 4 cameras (father-in-law’s bedroom, mother-in-law’s, living/dining room, kitchen, entrance hall door and the motion detector in relation to each Wi-Fi camera.
With a speaker with a microphone for audio feedback and the possibility of calling for help.
