While waiting to test a new Gladys installation (hardware ordered), I propose helping with Gladys’ SEO on the internet. I’m not an expert in the field, but I think I can offer a few suggestions for improvement! I’ll go step by step rather than making a long list of points to fix
If others have ideas, don’t hesitate to share them!
PS: @pierre-gilles if you have access to Search Console and/or an Analytics console, would it be possible to grant access so we can better understand the visitors? Thanks
After that it’s about existing content, and I’m sure we could have more content to rank for other keywords
What are you specifically looking for? I can export the search terms.
Do you have a recent source indicating that having a www subdomain redirecting to the main site has a real impact on SEO? I have the impression that it’s an old practice that doesn’t really have impact or interest ^^ Ahrefs doesn’t recommend it in any case!
Indeed, I scanned the site with a few tools and the scores are rather good!
I think there will be work to do on the content; the main page has too little content volume, because beyond the metrics, you need a volume of things to index I plan to prepare a summary of possible areas for improvement that would have an impact on SEO but also—and above all—on the site’s readability.
Access to the consoles would allow me to explore and more easily identify problems and possible improvements. But if you want to work with exports at first, these could be interesting: visitor origin, mobile/desktop split, and bounce rate.
Regarding the www subdomain, it was flagged by Dareboost (Analyse de site Web, Test de Performance et Audit qualité | Dareboost). I can’t guarantee an SEO improvement, but it’s always useful in case of user input errors or bad links on sites. In any case, I don’t see any negative impact in putting it in place.
I’ll send you an export from the Google Search Console privately.
For site analytics, I no longer use Google Analytics which, besides slowing the site, collects quite a lot of information. I switched to Cloudflare Analytics, which is much lighter and collects the bare minimum.
So I have less data to provide than with GA, but that was also the goal
Some screenshots of the last 30 days of analytics:
Ok, indeed I don’t see any negative impact either, nor an SEO boost, but it’s more of a nice-to-have for someone who would type the URL themselves (which must be fairly rare )
I’ll add it if I find a moment; after all it’s not a priority that will change our lives ^^
Oh and by the way, I forgot, in terms of content I had started reworking the homepage to make it more attractive and to include much more information about Gladys, I’m putting it here:
(Don’t take the colors/fonts into account, I’m using Whimsical, it’s not Figma; the goal isn’t to be pixel-perfect but just to get an idea): Gladys Assistant website redesign 2023
