Need advice on Sonoff + Matter

Hello,

Brand new to Gladys, very happy with my installation on a (not too) old PC. I’m still a novice with Docker, MQTT…

A connection issue between Gladys/MQTT/Zigbee2MQTT was resolved thanks to this forum, which is great.
I managed to recover my devices via the Tuya gateway.

However I’d like to use my dongle SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus ZBDongle-P, but nothing is detected. I have two basic questions.

Question 1: do I need to unpair them from Tuya?

I just switched to IKEA, enticed by their new Matter product range, and I’d like to pair them via the Sonoff dongle.

Question 2: I saw on this forum that it would need to be flashed so it accepts Threads. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance, Charly

Hi @jcmoriaud and welcome to the Gladys universe.

For your question 1, I won’t be able to help because I don’t have any Tuya devices. However, I would be interested in your feedback in about a month (or sooner) to know whether you need to reactivate the Tuya APIs or not on the Tuya developer account. @Fabrice had issues (see his post )

For question 2, having a Thread key is not enough; you also need an OpenThread Border Router service, which is not yet available in Gladys.
There is a long post on this topic.

For your dongle, could you take a screenshot of the config in the zigbee2mqtt integration? (USB port and dongle selection)

Thanks for your reply.

So I’ll get back to you once I’ve tested with a Tuya device not supported by my current hub, which I’ll try to pair directly via my Sonoff dongle.

I understand about Thread, I just asked the AI, and it’s not very clear yet…

Here is the config of my dongle:

Hi!

You’re currently going through a Tuya gateway, is that right?

If that’s the case, and your devices are ZigBee and not WiFi, you do indeed need to pair them again via Gladys. You check ‹ Allow pairing › and enable it on the device to add. Note that I imagine they will disappear from the Tuya app…

everything is green so everything should work (pairing, control, etc.)

Yes, that’s right. I’m going to test a

I’m not sure, however, that I understand the note “WARNING: For the safety of your installation, don’t forget to disable association after pairing.”…

It’s just that if you leave pairing open in Gladys, anyone could potentially connect to it via ZigBee or add a device without your permission.

Extremely unlikely but…

quoiqu’il arrive, il y a un timeout <5mn (dans z2m en tout cas) donc en toute logique même si tu oublies, ça s’arrêtera tout seul.

Indeed, and that wasn’t the case before (well, only if we enabled pairing directly from the Z2M interface).

Now, pairing turns off but the checkbox remains checked in Gladys. An improvement to make to Gladys, no doubt!

Have you noticed this behavior? I thought it had been fixed!

Checked just now! The box remains checked!

Oh no, can you create a GitHub issue? :stuck_out_tongue:
