Terminal e-ink?

Hello,

I’m looking for a terminal to put in my entryway with a Gladys dashboard.

Ideally, it would be an e-ink display to save energy.

Has anyone already implemented this with Home Assistant (HA) or Gladys, and if so could they describe it?

Thanks in advance.

I’d be very interested too :+1:

I heard about https://trmnl.com/ on my Twitter feed, and there’s a possibility to develop plugins

That said, I’ve never tried it!

Given the price, what would be the difference compared to a tablet

consumption? obsolescence?

Same here… I’d be really interested too. With a tablet you pretty much have to keep it plugged in all the time. A battery life of several months would be a dream…

Indeed Trmnl is very prominent in the Home Assistant (HA) world, but it’s expensive. On the other hand there are very cheap e-ink displays on Aliexpress that can be assembled with an ESP32 and a small 3D-printed case and that is really economical and inexpensive.

I’m going to dig in that direction and take inspiration from these videos for the DIY:

Otherwise there are cheaper ready-made e-ink screen models like this one: https://www.seeedstudio.com/XIAO-7-5-ePaper-Panel-p-6416.html?sensecap_affiliate=nq9MUW3
